In Remembrance

You might remember Nick Nelson, the health reporter who tells the GDNF story. His book is being published in a "matter of weeks." It includes the UK people too. Have to reach Tom Isaacs.
Title: Monkeys in the Middle: How one drug company kept a Parkinson's disease break through out of reach We're providing Nick with updates for the 'Afterwards' he needs to add. paula This is the original announcement on pipeline from last May. New Book Coming Soon! Could possible cures for Parkinson's be sitting on the shelf because of business decisions? In "The Uncured : How one drug company shelved a Parkinson's disease breakthrough" , journalist Nick Nelson eloquently captures the real life experiences of Parkinson's trial participants regaining their lives with the use of GDNF in clinical trials, but losing them again following Amgen's abrupt halt of the trials in 2004. Why were they halted? Read excerpts here (05/24/07) http://pdpipeline.org/whatsnew/whatsnew.htm at the bottom

Do you know who the publisher is? I like the new title a lot better than the original one. It's really a piece that would work well in a documentary formatt. Next step is to find someone who would make a short documentary out of it. If it came out of the UK it would have much more freedom to tell the story without being censored. Michael Moore was lamenting that he can't get his stuff shown on TV in the States. He was surprised to hear the CBC in Canada had shown his stuff.
