After reading lots and lots of research on this TMT,which concludes it is highly safe,I was tempted to build a coil which would have passed the output from a hi-fi amp driven from a pc with a sine or squarewave output...using free wave generation software.
But then I decided to use an even simpler method of fixing a hard drive magnet which is veryvery strong to a battery operated fan instead powered by 2 x1.5 volt AA batteries. I removed the fan blades from the nob like holder and SECURELY taped the harddrive magnets to it and also glued it.I also glued the nob to the motor spindle to avoid dangerous flyoff. I then taped it over the magnets to the nob with sellotape to make it softer and draped soft glue again to make it softer to avoid injury....The magnets I took from an old hard drive.3 magnets stacked over each other will have a longer range/penetration depth then a single thin magnet. no doubt a cup shape could be put over the spinning magnet to make it even more safer. I tested the magnets and this one has an effect on the monitor from at least 2 inches away when I tested it.3 inches quite weak.1inch very powerful. When the fan is switched on it the rotating magnets will generate strong alternating magnetic fields and induce a/c microcurrents in the body. This is my simple version of the transcraniel coil used in TMT. Simple and cheap. You could use it to treat various ailments and report back here. |

1) There is a researcher named Reuben Sandyk that you might be interested in. Among other things, he has 500 or so papers on Medline on a wide variety of "fringe" issues related to PD. But, in particular, if you google him you will come up with a nice patent drawing showing how to build a rather simple assembly to do this sort of thing.
2) I have wondered about the use of old style stereo speakers (the old 8-ohm type, not the newer self-powered ones) for this. You have a modulated current going into a coil creating a fluctuating field that moves the magnet at the apex of the cone. If you lie down with a speaker to either side of your head an put on a Mozart piece, I wonder what happens in the brain? And you can regulate the strength of the field by the distance between the speakers. 3) A really sharp tech should be able to tinker with a cell phone..... But that exceeds my white rat risk limit

Functional 90% of waking day but fragile. Failure at exercise but still trying. Constantly experimenting. Beta blocker and ACE inhibitor at present. Currently (01/2013) taking ldopa/carbadopa 200/50 CR six times a day + 10/100 form 3 times daily. Functional 90% of day. Update 04/2013: L/C 200/50 8x; Beta Blocker; ACE Inhib; Ginger; Turmeric; Creatine; Magnesium; Potassium. Doing well. |

There is no such thing as "MAGNETIC TRANSCRANIAL THERAPY". It is a bunch of hooha that people in the past have tried to promote , but has long been dismissed by neurologists as bunk.
Now music therapy is a different thing. Music has the ability to strongly affect our mood, however magnetism is just a lot of nonsense. It has "effects" but nothing that would be considered "Therapy" in any way shape or form. Don't get ripped off by people selling "magnetic devices" that are proclaimed to be of "therapeutic value", itt's all snake oil |

There is a lot of info about various kinds of medical magnetic therapies-
http://www.google.com/search?q=Magne...ient=firefox-a http://www.google.com/search?q=MAGNE...ient=firefox-a I did use therapeutic magnetic bracelets and necklace for my wrist & neck pain - but since the pain was caused by repetitive motion- as long as I continued to do the same job they only helped to relieve some pain at the time. But it may have helped my RSI to not get as bad as some have experienced. I definitely did have less pain while wearing them. But there are special therapeutic types of magnets I don't know about using hard drive or speaker types..

A Medline search for "repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation" yields 970 hits so peer-reviewed money is being spent.
