Default Weekly Check In March 30-April 5, 2008

Hi Everyone..Ive still been busy with Spring cleaning, and Im glad that Im finally doing what Ive been trying to get done for a long time..I figured its best I do it while I still can

As most of you know, I went in for a colonoscopy this past week, and its amazing how little the nurse knew about pd..She asked me alot of questions..We've discussed this on the forum before, and you really do have to be your own advocate..We've also talked about pd wrist bands, and Im thinking, if we end up in the ER, conscious, or unconscious, it is probably a good thing to have something that identifies us as pd patients..Now..only if they knew something about it

I have a friend who is not doing well..He has a rare cancerous tumor on his shoulder, and the cancer has spread to his lungs and his liver..has a bloot clot in his arm, and was moved to the ICU because of breathing problems yesterday morning..He was dx almost a month ago, and I cant believe how agressive his cancer is..I dont think he's going to make it home from the hospital..He's been there over two weeks already..The poor guy hasnt even begun to sort this illness out yet..Very sad!

I just got back from the AA Convention, and spent the day there yesterday and today..I couldnt sleep hardly at all last night..It was about 4 am when I got up after about 3 hours sleep..I made breakfast, then took 3 naps so I could make it back to the convention this afternoon..The sleep problem was probably due to the fact that I forgot to take my morning meds yesterday, and remembered at about 4:00 in the aftenoon..

How was your week?

Talking sleep problems

My week is starting out okay. Once again I am up at 4:30 am. Don't know why this is happening-has been going on for about 2 months now. Only thing I can figure out is about the same time I titrated off avinza which is a morphine medication for chronic pain. I am glad I am off that - didn''t help anyway with pain. But guess it did help me sleep. It is a nice time in morning to do things, no interruptions, everything is quiet and peaceful. I usually fold laundry or surf net.
Sorry about your friend Stevem, everybody's time seems to happen at different ages. You just never know, but hate to see people suffer.
Today I am going out to breakfast with my family, all of them, 3 daughters, 1 son, 1 spouse and 1 granddaughter. Then later in day we are going to take a drive and look at houses that my daughter, single mom, can possibly buy. Right now she is living in a pretty rough neighborhood and has a 3 yr old daughter. She is going to school, working, and raising a daughter. Hard times. So we thought we would see if we could help her find a home she can eventually afford when she finishes school. She is studying medical coding.
My doggies are asleep on my bed now, what nerve!! So if I want to go back to bed am going to have to fight them for it.
Hope everyone has a good week

Default pet thoughts

our pooch is the same way, he hogs the bed too. Luckily he is a small dog, half CArin and half Jack Russell. He looks just like "Toto" from the Wizard of OZ.
They certainly becoome an important part of one's life.

Now if we can just get Captain Jack, our black cat and him to share our kiing-size bed!!!
Jack meows "soulfully" until my wife or I get up and let him out at 4 AM. Has he got us trained or what!!

Well, pets make liars out of us all! As soon as I figure out where/how to post it I will show you a picture of Benji and Jack laying side-by-side on our bed without a care in world!

Well, here we are another new week. Thank goodness spring break is over! My daughter has to go to school tomorrow (YEA!!!). Libra I don't know what causes the sleep problem. It seems like most of us have it. What has helped me was taking my last dose of Sinemet just before bedtime. I found that I was waking up when the Sinemet wore off.
Our horse I mean dog (145lb Black Lab) thinks our bed is his. He an I fight over it almost every night. It's almost like having my wife there (She works nights).
As for me nd PD, were not getting along too well. I keep telling him if he doesn't like it, get out. He won't hear of it though. There has been some progression but I'm still mobile. Damn the torpedos, Full speed ahead!
I hope everyone has a good week.

GregD

Default I love my animals too

Chasmo and GregD, your animals sound cute! What would we do without them.

I have 2 dogs, Sadie is border collie and Bruce is a mutt but looks like a Vizla. Sadie is extremely intelligent and Bruce is extremely the opposite, but so cute you can't help but love him. Bruce especially follows me everywhere I go even to the bathroom. I am his source of food, chewies, cheese slices, dog food, treats, the list goes on.
I also had a cat named Moochie who was the best cat ever. He actually gave me massages that would last about 20 minutes in my lower back. When I had a cold or flu, Moochie was always in bed with me. Unfortunately, Moochie got old and lost his bladder control and had to be put to sleep. I will never forget him.

I like your attitude GregD. That's the way we have to be, isn't it. Take care.
