sk your doctor about "Provigil". It is commonly prescribed to alleviate fatigue caused by Mirapex. It will help you.

Talk your participation in any trials over with the Pipeline gang, Carolyn, Peggy, Paula et al. There are good ones and "not so good" studies. You want to make sure you are protected.

Default re guinee pig

Hi mary Francis

I have had parkinson disease for 4 years, i am now 53.because of the symptoms that i had they said i had it probably 5 years previous to that .I started off on simenit and cabasar ,.i had trhat for a year then i changed my neurologist and he put me on madapor and tasmar .I had a lot of sucess with these meds until recently i have a lot of dyskenisia caused by the medication.it was to the point that people woukd ask what was wrong with me with my extra movement .2 weeks ago i decided to try mucuma the powder form ,it is working really well with no side efects .I feel a lot better i droped my parkinson meds and feel a lot better. unfortunatily my doctor does not think it a good idea .but only i know how i feel and i felt a lot better on the mucuna I suppose it wont always work but while it is working i feel that i am better on that than all the other pharmecutical medication. At least i am having a bit of a drug holiday it cant hurt me ,but hopefully it will work for me for a while .

All the best with whatever you decide to do

Default nature

Hello Mary Frances,

I'm still a babe in the woods, but some things I've learned here...

I've been aware of symptoms for 3 years or so and was diagnosed in August 2007. I am also on Mirapex at what now seems like a pretty high dosage, 1.5mg 3x. As I got over .5 mg 3x, I started to feel intense sleepiness and fatigue. I added B complex, and more recently, ginseng, based on posts here. Now, my energy level is as good, and some days, even better than it has been for many years. It has allowed me to exercise more which I also believe is helping with energy and mood issues. I understand your doubt of Mirapex; when I started, it helped some but I still shuffle and I never got full range of movement back in my shoulders, even up to my current dosage. When I started the ginseng, things got markedly better. Thank you, you know who. It's only been 7 weeks or so, but the effect seems to be holding. In response, I'm really starting to believe in diet and natural chemistry over man-made subtances, but I'm a bit unsure if (and how) I should get off Mirapex altogether. As soon as it seems necessary, I will try mucuna or fava sprouts before going to synthetics. As far as experiments are concerned, if you're still functioning reasonably well... and I know you're down right now, but try to be positive about what you can do; you are working minor miracles with your kids at school, aren't you?... there appear to be some risks, and I'm of a mind to protect what I've got left through things I can control until I'm not functioning. That may sound selfish, but I'm too young, too.

Some other things I've learned here that are working: don't give up (very hard), move as much as possible, and have as many laughs in a day as you can (great advice, lurking).
