my mom is in the 'beginning of the advanced stage' of Parkinson's. her voice and finger strength continue to decline. she has help at home 24/7 but at night she is in her room and they are in next room. we have a great room monitor (no interference) but her voice is sometimes too soft to hear. i got her a neck pendant that goes to a little chime box (NOT a central monitoring system) and when she has the strength to push it, it works great. they hear the chime and run. However it is NOT easy to push and requires two fingers and mom working at it hard - - - sometimes to no avail (i suppose a function of trying to keep a lot of false alarms going off.)
does anyone PERSONALLY KNOW of a pendant system (whether connected to a chime box OR a 'pay-by-the-month' monitoring system that is TRULY easy to push?? or have some other ideas that will help once mom has little voice and/or only minimal finger strength? thanks for your help! |

You got me to thinking on this -
what about a baby cam type of thing? so they can check/watch on TV? http://www.x10.com/key_products/baby-cam.htm or http://www.agis.com/Eldercare-Basics...-Call-Systems/ or even a motion sensor of some sort so she just waves her hands and it will turn a light on or make a buzzer sound?? a whistle or old fashioned ringer type or pull string bell?
