CayoKay, I must be over the hill, in the wrong decade, or just clueless. I don't get it. I got that look that Whoopie sometimes gets on The View when she can't believe what she's hearing.

it appears that the Chattahoochie band is making fun of four different popular songs in that video, being very silly, and having a blast, traveling all over, to many famous landmarks, with a variety of people... (an Arab, a Jew, an Indian, a belly dancer, an East Indian, Marilyn Monroe, a Viking, a Chinese man, a bride, a Rastafarian, etc, etc, etc.)

and they try to hold a wedding ceremony, even though none are of the same faith.

of course, the wedding is rained out.

the four songs are:

What if God Was One of Us? - by Joan Osbourne

Straight Up, by Paula Abdul

Work It, by Missy Misdemeanor Elliot

and Let's get retarded, by the Black Eyed Peas

I guess their point might be, that we are all soooooo different, in age, race, gender, orientation, creed, color, size, politics, etc, that God must be amazing, in order to have created us all so different...

and that maybe we need to try to be open to all the different ways of worshiping God.

and all the different sorts of people that are around us.

hth

It is easy to dismiss the "Troubs" as just a "fun" band but you soon realize these guys are good. And how can you not like lyrics like "Your sweet talk made me love you, but Prozac made me stay," ?

Thanks, Howard. Does anyone know the song used in MAC commercials lately, the female singer. I love that song.

I found it:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=GBCfW9-hjKI&feature=related

Who is she? Someone posted:

ITS YAEL NAIM singing NEW SOUL

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Tezx03k8W4s

HERE ARE THE LYRICS~

I'm a new soul I came to this strange world hoping I could learn a bit about how to give and take.
But since I came here felt the joy and the fear finding myself making every possible mistake

la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la...

I'm a young soul in this very strange world hoping I could learn a bit bout what is true and fake.
But why all this hate? Try to communicate finding trust and love is not always easy to make.

la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la...

This is a happy end cause' you don't understand everything you have done why's everything so wrong

this is a happy end come and give me your hand I'll take your far away.

[Refrain]:
I'm a new soul I came to this strange world hoping I could learn a bit about how to give and take but since I came here felt the joy and the fear finding myself making every possible mistake

la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la...

la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la....

Live performance:

....

By Christine Kearney

NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - French-Israeli singer-songwriter Yael Naim's self-titled second album, recently released in the United States, was written at a low point in her life after she became disillusioned with the music industry.

But instead of turning her back on commercial music, Naim decided to do it her own way. She took on a new band, including percussionist David Donatien, recorded the album entitled "Yael Naim" in her Paris apartment and agreed to let her song "New Soul" feature in Apple's MacBook Air laptop advertisement.

Naim, 30, spoke to Reuters about why she became disillusioned and how she turned herself around......
