Hi Everyone..October is almost over..Where did it go?
Its been a challenging week..I took my brother in for a check up and they did some blood work, and The Dr called back the next day..He said that his PSA..(prostate) was 9..They get concerened when its higher than 4..The Doc said that his prostate is either enlarged..infected..or cancerous..So hes going in to see a Urologist on the 20th of next month..I hope hes ok.. ..Ive been thinking about this for days now..For those of you who dont know, my brother lives with me and is high functioning retarded..Like sure is full of curve balls.. Ive been out fishing this week, and I double up on my Sinamet on my morning dose, and it gets me through the 3 hours that Im out there..Also, per this experiment I found out that Im undermedicated..but for now Im only gonna take more Sinamet when I have to..either when I am engaging in physical activities, or if I am having a bad day My YOPD support group was this morning, and the speaker was a RN who gave a lecture on APOKYN..Interesting stuff..She showed a before and after video clip and it was quite impressive!..I heard its quite expensive too..What else is new?.. Thats my week..How was yours?..I hope it was good Steve

Hang in there Steve. And good thoughts to your brother.
I'm halfway through my final semester of grad school and I can't wait for it to be over! Only 7 more weeks! And I take my last midterm ever this week. Ask me if I'm sad about that. Otherwise, life is not too bad. I feel pretty good. Our weather has been in the upper 80's so that's nice. I'm not looking forward to cooler weather because I don't do well in it. Although here in Southern California we don't really have bad weather, so I guess that's not really much of an issue! Besides school, continuing getting the speaking business up off the ground (marketing is next on the list...ugh!), and working on the documentary, life keeps me busy. But I always manage to find time to catch a few hockey games on my Center Ice package. Go Buffalo! (Even though I hate the new pajamas they're wearing...) Have a good week everyone...

Hi everyone. This is Rao from the old BT, but now just plain Fiona. Much less confusing. Finally made it here, and it will take me a little while to catch up with you all. Recently came back from a month in Colombia working on spiritual and physical healing with indigenous shamans in remote Andean highlands..best, most amazing trip of my life. Everyone says I look as I did in 1990 since I've come back. Working on different possibilities for dealing with PD, and will be more specific when I have some quantifiable results, but I feel very positive and hopeful.
I'm back in rehearsal with my nine-member dance company - performed solo in Colombia, first time in eight years at least! I still have problems with gait often, and off periods and dystonia with the meds, but I am much calmer, happier, healthier, and feel confident that I'm going to solve this problem, and get away from these stupid meds somehow. Meanwhile, looking forward to further conversations with you all. fond regards, Fiona |

My main interest right now is trying to figure out what effect my food has on my meds. If it wasn't for reverett's and rosebud's threads, I don't think I would have paid much attention to why some days are good and others aren't.
Sat. morning I had to tow my husband on an old tractor for over an hour with our truck to the mechanic's. I'd never done anything like that before and the road was a bit muddy and potholed with soft shoulders from all the recent rain. I wish I'd had a glucometer then to see what major stress does to your blood sugar - my foot was shaking so badly at times I could hardly keep an even speed. Until I realized it really wasn't that fearsome a task and I was being a bit ridiculous! I'd been warned to take the corners really slowly as the tractor was hard to steer with no engine running, so we came into our mechanic's driveway at about 2 km. an hour. He had a great chuckle! Ah well, next time I'll be experienced. |
