Default ATTENTION Community Members!!

Hi Everyone!..I have been posting the Weekly Check-In thread for 3 years now, and I feel it has run its course for me..I would really appreciate it if someone would step up to the plate and take over this noble task that has been handed down from parkie to parkie for a good number of years..I have asked a few people who declined for their own reasons, which is naturally ok of course, not everyone has the time to dedicated to posting this thread every week..So I really dont know who to ask, so I am extending the invitation to anyone in our community, who is interested to take on the weekly task of posting the check in thread

I think it is important that we keep this tradition going..Lord knows we need a place to talk about our trials and joys as we walk through our long journey with Parkinsons..Posting this thread for the past three years has been a priviledge, and a healing process for me..I was in the first year of my dx when I was asked by Jaye, God Bless her heart, had asked me to take over the thread, and it was exactly what I needed at the time..I was going through the grieving period of the shock of finding out that I had pd..I was fearful, confused, appauled that I had this disease, and it seemed that life changes were coming at me from all directions, and I didnt know if I had lost a horse, or had found a rope..It was an opportunity for me to get educated..to educate when I could..It was an opportunity to find acceptance, and to share that acceptance..It was an opportunity to have a shoulder to cry on, and to be that shoulder to be cried upon..It was an opportunity to find hope in the center of a storm, and an opportunity to give and share that hope..It has been an opportunity to welcome folks to our cyber community, as I was welcomed..It was a a place to find peace of mind with pd, and move on with my life..It encouraged me to get out into the pd Community in my native State of Rhode Island, and become a former PAN Coordinator..I am a board member of our local chapter of the APDA, and am on the website and the annual walk committees..I am the treasurer of a support group, and active in two groups, which gave me the opportunity to meet Lonnie Ali this past February..And finally, it gave me the priviledge to meet 12 of you fine people here who have educated me, openly shared your lives with me, and showed me by your own example how to live life with pd, with confidence, peace and dignity, as well as your friendship..You have shown me the strenth of the human spirit, and gave me the courage to carry on, as well as many other gifts that I just cant find the words to describe, and I Thank You all from the bottom of my heart, for guiding my through this journey

So its not just a matter of writing a thread every week..it all of the above and more, and I would like to pass this precious gift on to someone else in our community..It would be selfish for me at this point not to pass it on..It has served its purpose

Steve, you have done such a beautiful job. Thank you - you are always so generous and warm, a truly beautiful soul. It's a privilege to know you.

I don't think I could take it on, and regret to say I have been an infrequent poster to this thread - too busy running my mouth off in others! - but I think it's probably important for many and is a lovely thing. How 'bout monthly.

Many of the forums have an ongoing check in thread, so nobody has to start it - it's always there, and you just post your update/news to the same thread all the time....

Would something like that work ??

From my experience, and Im sure Jaye will agree, that this is more about finding someone who can benefit personally, and spiritually as we have..This as I mentioned in my opening post is more than just starting a thread every week..This has been a journey for me in many ways, that I would have missed out on, had I not had the opportunity to post this thread every week..Friendships were made..Hope was shared..Info was gotten and given..Support was exchanged..Camaraderie..Tears..Joy..Triumps..Condo lences..Prayers..
Encouragement..Compassion..Healing..Tradition..Wel comes..Laughter..
Agreements..Disagrements..Info..Fears..Advise..A place where people have traditionally been able to open their lives and their hearts to others without the fear of being judged or rejected..I would rather wait for that special person to step foward to pass this on to..I have known for a few months that it was time let this go, so that someone else can hopefully gain whatever it is for them that the expeience has to offer

Steve, I hope that doesn't mean you are leaving us. I post so much that I usually don't post yet again in your thread. But I have read them all. You are a gifted writer and have a good spirit.
