Hello to everyone once more, i am here because i beleive i have Parkinsons disease. My father is 67yrs old and had this disease about 5 yrs ago. I recently ecessive shaking and twitching of my fingers for more than a year now. It started with one finger and now it happens to all my fingers on both hands. Especially the thumb fingers. I feel cramps in my hands and weakness and also my both legs also tremble alot when i am doing work. But overall i can do anything so i am not sure if its parkinsons or not. I went to a neurologist when it just started and he told me i am ok and it was not parkinsons, but i think it is, i can anyone shed some light on this

A neurologist told you that you are OK? Just like that; you're OK? IT is obviously clear from your post that you are not OK. Did the neuro send you for a CAT scan to rule out brain tumors? Did the neuro offer to allow you to try sinemet for a couple of weeks? Did he'she at least give you some simple tests to see if they could find "ratcheting" in the wrist/elbow rotation test?
Raj, you must find a "movement disorder clinic". There, they will get a "team' of seasoned and intern neurologists to examine you, and will suggest a course of action to get to a PROPER DIAGNOSIS for you. YOu must not be shy, this is your life we are talking about here! One good thing is that you have NOT been diagnosed with PD, so you can buy all kinds of insurance which will allow you to live comfortably if you get to the point where you can't work, if you have a progressive neurological disease. This is the most important thing for you to do RIGHT NOW, you only have a short time period to do this. This may be the single most important advice you may ever get; don't "blow it".cs |

So you need to look for another clinic or hospital that has top doctors, especially now while you still can, and get someone or a group of people to look at your problem. I'm saying this because I've been this route before. Neuro No. 1 had me down as having focal dystonia even though Sinemet was working! I then went to the Lahey Clinic where a proper diagnosis has been made. Good luck and let us know how you do. John |

You need not reveal where you are from, but the name "Raj, although you could be from Australia or any elsewhere on the globe and are apparently talking to us from a point of view as someone, somewhere implying that they live in the "boondocks" where there is little "adequately available location" wherein a decent group of "movement disorder" clinics exist?
Face it, if you are ever going to get the chance to find out what is wrong with you so that you can go about the best way of dealing with your symptoms, ya gotta do it right, or yuo'll never get the treatment that you need. And the sooner you get what you need, if you have PD; unfortunately, mostly drugs i'm afraid |

Raj is an Indian name ol'cs, not an Australian one and you may not have seen it, but Raj posted in another thread that he was from Trinidad and Tobago. Maybe you're also not be aware of the Health Care limitations available to him, but I daresay there aren't many neuro clinics available where Raj lives. Trinidad and Tobago form a group of islands in the Caribbean Ocean, off the northeastern coast of Venezuela, so I'm sure sites like this would be extremely beneficial to him. Welcome again to the site Raj. I do hope you get the answers that you're looking for, and please correct me if I have my information wrong.

Yes there are numerous such clinics in Australian cities throughout the country, but once again, Trinidad is nowhere near Australia. As one who does in fact live in Australia, I can actually vouch for that.

i Know the topography of the third rock pretty well. Australia may have neurologists that are quite good, but i've also heard of something called "the outback" down there. and it's a long walk from Perth to Sydney. And i'll bet you five American dollars that there is a "Rajesh" in more than 100 towns on the way from Perth to Sydney. I also know what an Indian name sounds like. I've met a few such people in my short walk through this life.
Is this how misunderstood we can be in this medium? Point is, Raj, GET THAT INSURANCE NOW!!!!! YOU WILL BE THANKFUL LATER, AND DON"T MAKE EXCUSES. Excuses will only make you lose more than you can imagine! And Ive flown over Trinidad and Tobago, and have an inkling about the politics that have played out on those islands for the last 480 years. I know if Raj exists, it may be very difficult to get proper care where he is, probably because his probable socioeconomic position means that he can't spend three thousand dollars on one visit to a proper clinic. cs |
