Treatment Improves Walking Ability Of Parkinson's Patients
ScienceDaily (Jun. 3, 2008) — The use of electrical impulses to stimulate weak or paralyzed muscles, called Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES), is often used to help stroke or multiple sclerosis patients to walk. In a pilot study published in Neuromodulation, Geraldine E. Mann of Salisbury Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in England presents evidence that FES may also provide major benefits to people with Parkinson’s disease. READ full article...

Eight years later and they are still at it:
https://www.parkinsons.org.uk/sites/...alisbury_0.pdf Functional electrical stimulation seems like a good idea to me: basically, TENS-like, providing external electrical shocks as and where required. There's probably a niche for something less effective than DBS but far, far less invasive. But, how do you explain such a long development time? John
