And I'm truly grateful that you did!
Seriously, all of you who have contributed to this amazing thread are simply blowing me away with your insight and inner strength. I sit here, still apparently enjoying my sinemet "honeymoon", feeling both guilty and terrified. Guilty' because my Dx occurred when I was over 60, and already looking forward to retirement (which I did at the end of 2006), and not while in the middle of raising my family and pursuing a career. Terrified, because I watched both my mother and my older brother progress through all of the PD stages, including dementia. Also, because I know that my "honeymoon", sooner or later is bound to end. I don't dwell on those negative thoughts, but they are hard to avoid when struggling to turn over in bed or while waiting for the meds to take away the morning shuffles. Most of the time I am un-apologetically delighted that I can still mow the lawn, walk as far as I want, cast a fishing line just about anywhere I aim it, and rest secure in the support and understanding of a close family, including a great faith family. I am, after all, truly blessed; and not least by the sharing of hearts that happens on this forum! You are the best! Robert |
