Summer 2008 Repairing the Parkinson’s Pipeline By Robin Elliott A decade ago, hopes were high in the Parkinson’s disease (PD) community. We were riding a new wave of research opportunities and many people — including scientists — were anticipating not only new treatments, but were also speculating that there could be a cure in as little as five to 10 years. In contrast, today’s seemingly widespread feelings of disappointment — in the pace of progress toward treating and understanding PD — make it difficult to remember the optimism of the 1990s. Yes, this is an excellent article. Robin Anthony Elliott is one smart guy, and he knows his research. Note that he mentions the trials halted that seemed so promising (for one - GDNF).
