you must do some research here -y'all
Keywords: pesticide; DNA damage; urine mutagenicity; exposure assessment; UK-POEM http://www.pan-uk.org/projects/Expos...eport%2005.pdf Fatality reported PAN UK traced details of a fatality listed in the PSD results of 2004. It occurred in 2002 after exposure to aldicarb, but it was not clear whether or not it was related. The case was publicised across Scotland in the Sunday Herald newspaper10: the following is an extract. ‘An official investigation into whether a young Scottish farm worker was killed by a highly toxic pesticide had to be abandoned after a university mix-up … Graham Stephen died on May 3, 2002, after he had applied a dangerous pesticide known as aldicarb to a potato crop on a farm near Forfar in Tayside. He was 37. ‘After hearing from police that Stephen could have breathed in the pesticide and that this might have helped cause his death, the procurator fiscal ordered his blood to be screened for aldicarb. Samples were sent to the forensic science laboratories at the University of Glasgow, but were accidentally disposed of after six months before techniques for detecting aldicarb had been developed. The university said the incident was a ‘regrettable accident’… ‘Aldicarb is one of the most hazardous pesticides still licensed for use on farms in the UK. It was one of the pesticides produced at the chemical plant at Bhopal in India where an accident in which poisonous gas was released in 1984 killed 8000 people. Because of the risks aldicarb poses to human health and the environment, the European Union has severely restricted it, but a ban has been resisted in the UK and other countries, by aldicarb’s multinational manufacturer, Bayer CropScience.’ PAN UK comment: companies are required to submit an analytical method as a condition of licensing to the regulators. ~~~~~ this has been clinically studied! OXFORD JOURNAL http://mutage.oxfordjournals.org/cgi...t/full/21/2/93 Q; MY QUESTION IS SINCE THEY HAVE STUDIED IT... they should be able to tell us, which toxins change our DNA... and how once changed -how to help they body de-tox?

Wednesday, June 25, 2008 Suspensions lifted for insecticidal seed treatment products for use in oilseed rapeMonheim, June 25, 2008 – The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) has now lifted the suspension of registration imposed on May 15, 2008 for insecticidal seed treatment products used in rapeseed. This means that these products have been made available once again to farmers in Germany for the impending sowing season. The registrations for insecticidal seed treatment products in oilseed rape and maize had been suspended originally in response to reports of bee losses in the south of Baden-Württemberg at the beginning of May, which were linked to the sowing of maize seeds treated with the seed treatment active ingredient Clothianidin. As a precaution this official measure extended not only on maize seeds but also on rapeseeds. After intensive technical discussions and consultations at expert level, the BVL took the view that the treatment of rapeseed with insecticidal seed treatment products as also the sowing of the treated seeds, can be classified as safe to the environment. The documents required by the BVL and made available by Bayer CropScience had been scrutinized closely beforehand by BVL experts and submitted to a renewed risk assessment. “Operator safety and environmental protection are top priority issues for us. The decision of the BVL to lift the precautionary suspension provides definite confirmation of the safety of our seed treatment products,” said Dr. Hans-Josef Diehl, Head of Development and Registration at Bayer CropScience Germany.

Expert hearing in Karlsruhe Bayer CropScience: Clothianidin is safe to bees when correctly applied Beekeepers to receive non-bureaucratic financial assistance / Quality assurance system in preparation Karlsruhe, June 23, 2008 – “Seed treatments are one of the most targeted and environmentally friendly forms to apply crop protection products. We regret the recent bee losses and the situation they have created for the beekeepers in Baden-Württemberg”, emphasized Dr. Hans-Josef Diehl, Head of Development and Registration at Bayer CropScience Deutschland GmbH during an expert hearing on bee losses in Karlsruhe. Together with the State of Baden-Württemberg, Bayer CropScience is offering assistance to beekeepers affected by the recent bee losses in Southwest Germany. Once the exact damage has been ascertained, financial resources will be made available immediately via the Ministry of Food and Rural Affairs to avoid situations which could threaten beekeeping operations. This non-bureaucratic help is being offered on a voluntary basis. The amount in question is being calculated by experts on behalf of the Ministry. In the meantime it is now certain that the regionally confined bee losses reported at the beginning of May were due to a combination of different factors. Abrasion from a number of incorrectly treated maize seed batches had caused dust to be blown into the surrounding area during sowing. The emissions were reinforced by the use of certain types of pneumatic maize sowing machines in combination with strong winds. As soon as the incident was reported, Bayer CropScience worked to clarify the matter in cooperation with the competent authorities and gave the Ministry its support throughout the investigations. http://www.bayercropscience.com/BCSW...id/20080623_EN
