Hello everyone.I feel I know most of you as I have been lurking as a rather timid guest on B.T 1 for about a year and now on B.T 2.I live in England and my husband who is nearly 64 has been diagnosed with P.D for a year although I guessed from my reading what he might have 18 months before .On reflection there have been slight signs for about 8 years.He is only on Requip
On Monday we are due to see the neurologist for the regular check up.My husband's main symptoms are tremor and drooling. Is it worth asking the neurologist for something like Artane or are potential side effects not worth it as otherwise he feels quite well at present and is quite active.Could you knowledgable people give me the benefit of your experience please.,

Shortly after dx in 1995, I was started on Artane. It shut the tremor down immediately, but I had serious vision problems. Since I was still working and had a long cmmute the Artane had to go. Has your husband tried Amantadine? I believe it has some anticholenergic properties. i have been taking it for many years and it really helps me along with Sinemet, Selegeline and Mirapex. Good luck!

Saw the neurologist today and he was very reluctant to crank up the medication.I suppose this can be seen in a positive light as symptoms not progressed enough in last 8 months for him to think it is needed yet.BUT as my husband is often on stage drooling (from time to time) and tremoring can be very undermining.I admire his confidence in his ability to be able to stand there and prove he is good at what he does.
