Thought i'd repost this as a thread. This movie is good - about a breast cancer treatment's journey through the pipeline and the people affected. Change the names and the disease and you have a story much like the GDNF debacle. GDNF was more publicized but it was the breast cancer advocates that have largely led the way.
This movie shows it all - including the small role played by advocates [true story in the late 90s] and the need for a strong champion of the treatment. [GDNF's champion died of a heart attack suddenly] I give it two thumbs up for including all the perspectives. 8:00 ET. Lifetime channel. paula

This will become more relevant if you catch the movie, but here's an article with comments about a higher up getting last minute compassionate use with questionable legality.
http://www.pharmalot.com/2008/10/fre...ll/#more-16653 They take comments - here's mine - advanced PD = cynical but i have not given up: http://www.pharmalot.com/2008/10/fre...comment-378545

I liked the movie...when these trials were beginning my mother had just died from cancer.
It really astounds me at times that research has to fight so hard for funding to fight diseases that could help so many. |
