Laura,

You won't feel better until you find your "on" and get there quickly. What gets you "On"?

Default What the heck is going on?

Life is getting harder as we all know and Laura's suffering [ridiculously] at the hands of "experts" who determined in what sounds like very limited time that she go off all of her meds needs to be addressed beyond just the two of them. Half of me wants to play cop right now I'm sorry to say. It sounds angry but actually I'm energized, which is the goal these days. Anger is mostly out of me, it burns up too much fuel.

I want to uncover this racket. I don't know about all of you, but these are some scary days for me for so many reasons. I want to nail all of the bad ones. Without any details, which I do not have and maybe others don't either, Laura's situation is life threatening. At the Cleveland clinic? DO not comprehend.

am concerned,
paula

Default Not at the CC

Laura's emergency care was at a hospital she was referred to by the Cleveland Clinic, according to Steve's post #4 in this thread. She then went to the CC again, but by then decisions had been made. I don't want to conjecture about exactly what happened. I only wish it were more uncommon for people with Parkinson's.

Fact: Benedryl is sometimes used for mild cases of PD (early in the course of the disease). Rick's link in a thread called "Benadryl for PD" bears this out.

Thinking: I'm not so worried, since I remembered what a smart pair those two are. Good suggestion about finding help, Proudest Mama. Laura sounded better this morning, in fact, than she did last night.

Feeling: anger that these episodes happen to anyone, especially a friend, and fear of my own helplessness. Yeah, that's a biggie.

Prayer: God save us all from the well-intentioned ignorance of people we've never met.

Jaye

P.S. Happy belated Thanksgiving to all. We went to the home of a friend and enjoyed being with her and her 7-year-old daughter.

Laura did alot better today..She had been taking a half Sinemet every 3 hours, and a .5 Mirapex 5x daily

Today she tried a whole Sinemet 25/100 every 4 hours, with a half at night, and a half in the middle of the night..4 tablets total, same dose of Mirapex

She had almost a full day of on time..A bit dyskenetic periodically, but the trade off was definetally worth it

We've been traveling around W Virginia aimlessly today, and she did really well..So, my observation is, I think she needs a med adjustment..I hate to say it, but the Drs dont seem to know crap about pd..This is the second time she's been taken off her pd meds by a supposed cracker jack Dr

I see a regular neuro with a small clientel, and he works out just fine for me..He spends time with me every visit before and after his examination, and leaves no stones unturned..A ham and egg Dr by cracker jack MDS status, but he is one of the best Drs Ive ever had

HI ALL,

Laura, I hope things start to get better for you soon. We are all keeping you and Steve in our prayers.

Now for the Benadryl. According to the MDS that diagnosed me at the Cleveland Clinic, Benadryl was one of the first drugs that was ever used in treating PD with some marked result, little as they may be. This is also why when asking your MDS or other doctor what you should take to help with cold symptoms with PD their answer is usually Benadryl.

I'm glad to hear that Laura is doing better after that ordeal. People not inflicted with this condition seem to know "What's best for us" and insist on stopping medications and doing other adverse things.

This too will be a tight holiday in my house. We no longer buy the adults gifts but we do however get something for the younger ones like my 2 year-old niece. Given that the money situation is so tight, we'll probably get her one big gift and a couple of little things from Santa.

My week has been hell on wheels. I ended up at the eye doctor yesterday regarding my vision changes. He's says nothing can be done with the vision, but was able to help at least for now with the double vision problem. My brand new glasses need to be replaced with a thicker prisms to compensate for the problem. So after receiving this news, I've become rather discouraged and even more frustrated with this ordeal.

Does it ever let up? It's like I get used to a routine and things coast along fine only to bump into a tree or wall somewhere, and thne spend time regaining my bearings only to be dumped again somewhere else.

Default Wellll.....

As near as i can tell this is saturday so, Steve if your not up to it, I'd be glad to post the weekly check in for ya. "No news" is neither good nor bad and it's dangerous to make assumptions, especially around here. I will have to turn the duty over to some one else the following week as I will be hiding in the closet until after New Years!

Wishing you all sanity for the season.
