I'm in a kinda off mood today (what else is new). But I got to wondering, here we are about to hear from the auto industry on their needs, etc at the seemingly endless line for a govt bailout. Heck where do I get in line? Then it hit me.. instead of bailing out these huge corporations who couldnt see the train wreck of their own stupidity at ignoring consumer demands.. Now we're gonna here how they've got these grandious plans for electric cars and on and on. It uses a gasoline powered generator to make the electricity to power the car!! I'd rather GIVE each and every person 1 mill. each. That would stimulate the economy, people would spend it, invest it, etc and there ya go! Alright if you dont agree with this, lets give it a test- You give me the first million and I'll let ya know how it works out.

Galbraith: U.S.-Iraq Security Agreement Is 'Stunning and Humiliating' for Bush

Washington, D.C. Nov. 26, 2008 - Peter Galbraith, a top Iraq expert and former ambassador to Croatia, issued a statement today on the status of forces agreement recently signed by the United States and Iraq. Galbraith serves as senior diplomatic fellow at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation.

"The agreement represents a stunning and humiliating reversal of course by the Bush administration, which had vehemently opposed any timetable for withdrawal from Iraq," said Galbraith.

Iraqi and American negotiators have been working on the security agreement for over a year. The Iraqi parliament is expected to vote on the pact on Wednesday. To pass, the agreement needs to get 138 votes out of 275 Iraqi lawmakers and also must be ratified by the Iraqi presidential council.

"For the last two years, President Bush has pretended that Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki is a democrat and an American ally. In fact, Maliki is a sectarian Shiite politician who heads a government dominated by pro-Iranian religious parties," remarked Galbraith. "The U.S. presence now no longer serves the interests of Iraq's ruling Shiite religious parties or their Iranian allies, so we are now being asked to leave."

The agreement mandates that "all U.S. combat forces" withdraw from urban areas in Iraq by June 30, 2009, and that "all U.S. forces" withdraw from the country by December 31, 2011. The agreement upholds Iraq's "sovereign right" to demand the departure of U.S. forces anytime and recognizes the United States' "sovereign right" to remove its forces earlier than the end of 2011.

The agreement also bars permanent American bases in Iraq, prohibits the United States from using Iraqi territory to launch attacks against other nations, and bars any residual U.S.forces in Iraq beyond the end of 2011. Galbraith concluded: "While U.S. withdrawal is made easier by the fact that both the Iraqi government and the new U.S. administration want American troops out,the confluence of events leading to the agreement underscores the folly ofP resident Bush's lost Iraq war."

The Surge worked! The only place that the IRaqi's MAY need our help is securing their borders with Syria and Iran.The vast majority of insurgents are foreign nationals, NOT Iraqi citizens. HIstory will be kind to Bush, it is a time when we started democracy in the middle East. In spite of messing up the prosocution of the war for the first 5 years, I think Bush Deserves our thanks NOT our contempt.

This deal with a failed economy plays right into my hand..Gas is under $2.00, and heating oil is around $2.50..It took a financial disaster for us poor slobs on SSDI to catch a break..I feel like I got bailed out..Hmmmmm

Some things that are obvious once you see them (IMHO, of course)-

1) Money and power are one and the same in modern society.
2) A few people want power in order to do good. A lot more want power because it is addictive, and so dangerous that the first group has no chance against the second.
3) If you have enough power/money you can buy up the media and control the population's thinking.
4) If you have enough money you can give huge sums of money to both parties and control whoever wins.
5) One tool for controlling a population is to set up a fake system of opposing parties. To do this, the ideal is two such that can be played against one another. One can trap the rich and greedy and the other can trap the naive and good. These two groups are dangerous because the first can breed usurpers and the second revolutions.
6) Everything is a conspiracy and the only thing we can know for certain is that anyone who says otherwise is not to be trusted.

Hey, beware Florida's Jeb Bush is strongly considering a run for the Senate seat vacated by Martinez. Not ANOTHER Bush, say it ain't so.

Sorry. I didn't mean that all repubs/dems were a certain way. Rather that forces like fascism or altruism can be controlled by setting up politically attractive parties that can be controlled or monitored. If one is selfish they are likely to be repub but most repubs are not selfish, just deceived. Dems mostly believe one should work if one can, but anyone who believes in handing out life on a platter is going to be a Dem.

I think our two party system spends most of their time fighting each other and any positive things that result is accidental. talk about "fiddling while Rome burns"!
I think the Repubs are to blame for much of our current delimma. they had the control of the a white house and the Congress for 6 years and didn't fix anything domestically. Don't hold your breathe for the Pilosi-Reid-Obama crowd to fix things. Double digit inflation is next. Give it 3-5 years.
