Default Weekly Check-In Sept 10-16, 2006..Welcome English Country Dancer and zephyr

Hi Everyone..Welcome English Country Dancer and zephyr to our community..We hope you will continue to join us here

Not much going on with me..same old..same old..Still havent sold my boat..still getting ready to put my conch traps back in the water..Ive been busy building 30 more traps with plastic sides instead of wood lathe because they are lighter and I think they will work better..Ive been feeling kinda rigid these days as the weather has been getting cooler

I attended Rep Jim Langevins press conference on Tuesday, and he gave a great speech on stem cell research and for getting the ball rolling for research here in Rhode Island..I met a newly dx fellow parkie there who is a personal friend of Rep Langevin..At the end of the conference he came over and said hello and I introduced myself, and he had to leave to take a tour of the Alzhiemers Center that hosted the conference..So its all good..Also been busy trying to contact all the State Congressional Reps and Senators health representatives to get co-signers for the NETRP Program..2 down..and 2 to go..We have an annual Parkinsons Walk here at Goddard Park in Warwick R.I. on Sept 30 that I'll be getting prepared for..Our APDA Chapter meeting this coming Tursday..So Ive been busy with parkie stuff this month

So that about wraps it up for me..How is everyone doing this week?

Im running out of pictures to post..I'll have to look through what Ive got here and will edit this later on today..If anyone else has something they'd like to post, please let me know

Pictures of the week:..Here are 2 pictures of MKane's horses

Default Good Morning all:

I check in everyday to see what's new, but havn't contributed much latley. I am getting back into a regular schedule which is a good thing for me and I always like September. The twins are home from the hospital as of last nite and I hope to get out to see them for a bit this afternoon. My other two grandchildren are 2000 miles away so I feel like I have never really had a chance to develop a relationship with them. On Saturday I went to Ikea and got a small table and two chairs (I know it will be a while before they will be ready for them) but I'm going to put their names on the chairs (to avoid disputes and encourage name recognition) and I think it will be quite a useful gift as time goes on. I will get the names done this week and then I need to put a coat of finish on the wood and give it a good solid finish that will stand up to the wear and tear of two little neanderthals.

The weather is changing here also. I love September and the cooling and the colors of the leaves. I hope to get back to a regular walking program. There always seems to be some obsticle that makes my plans go off track. As if having PD is not enough! I've really noticed that I tire easily and my legs are losing endurance over the last few months. Can't let the monster get me...gotta move! Hope you all have a good week. Cheers ...J

Hi Everyone:

I'm back after a week long sail along the northeast coast...went as far north as Halifa. Trip was fine except for the first night which featured 80 mile per hour winds and 20 foot seas. Congratulations to Rosebud for her new grandchildren. That must have happened during the week that I was gone. Have been lax with my anti-PD activity during the summer and will have to get back into it this Fall. Have a family reunion to go to in October (in Wisconsin) and a meeting to go to (in December) in SAn Francisco)

All the best.

Lloyd

I haven't been posting very much since BT crashed but I have been checking in each day. It seems that in the summer the routine gets messed up, things should get back to normal now that the cooler weather has arrived. Hopefully we will still have some warm autumn days ahead to enjoy. This past week was very busy because I was taking care of my grandson. He is at a perfect age of 3 and he chats away like an adult. It is really entertaining to watch and to listen. What a wonderful age, although you have to watch what you say because they are sure to repeat it. I am going to try to include a picture of myself with Carter taken this past week, Steve has run out of pics so maybe we can help him out. Feeling very tired now that I am back home, it will take a couple of days to recover. I certainly don't have the energy I had when I was 20 but I feel good that I was able to keep up with a 3 year old for 4 days.

Now that grandkids are back in school, this is the week I go back to four/five days a week at the gym...ugh!!...but necessary.

Fall is in the air here, and I'm looking forward to the changing of the leaves, but NOT the raking of the leaves...LOL

All the peach orchard trees are bare of fruit. Soon the applies will be picked and I will be able to go to the local farms to choose from 20 varieties of apples. Didn't know there were so many varieties until I move to this county where all of Musselman's apples are grown.

I'm having some trouble walking since I had to quit the Mirapex. I've doubled upon Sinemet and after some initial nightmares, it is helping a bit.

Steve since you asked for pictures, I'll try to post some pictures of my horses. Hopefully it will be successful.

PS It didn't work. I'll email them to you Steve. If you can resize them and post them, I'd be grateful.

Hi,
And a big hello to all the familiar people here, and to those who I have not met before. And even if it is not our old place, with all those old conversations there to look back at, I am glad to be here.

I've just signed up from my son's computer, we are all packed to move house, and still no word about the final hurdle, a guarantor for our tenancy. So I am sitting surrounded by boxes, having just rejected an offer of a hospital bed to take me off sinemet and have a look at what is happening - it feels like deja vu, I was at this point two years ago! I have seen a new neuro though, and she started from scratch and was very thorough, but no answers yet ...

It's great to know that people are getting here, I've been lurking for a couple of weeks, but would love to see some more of the stalwarts of the old board - it has seemed an arid summer without my PD friends.

love to all
Lindy

MK:
your horses are beautiful. I worked one summer on a "Dude Ranch" that catered to wealthy kids. I learned to saddle, ride and care for horses. The horses were great, the kids...well that was another story. A lot of them were dumped there by parents who had other things to do. Money does not buy happiness. That was a very interesting summer for me. I fell in love with a cowboy and a cowboy fell in love with me...unfortunatley they were two different cowboys!

The horses are gorgeous. We used to own two, a tobiano paint and a stupid filly.

This is not a good time for me right now. I am hoping that things will get better.

It's great to see more and more friends.
