Default USA: PAN / Take Action: Support $10 billion for NIH in Economic Stimulus

Support $10 billion for NIH in Economic Stimulus

E-mail your Senators in Support of NIH Funding! Take Action!

E-mail your Senators now in support of funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the American Recovery Reinvestment Act of 2009. Currently, the Senate is considering its version of the bill and it is expected that Senator Arlen Specter will offer an amendment to increase NIH funding from $3.5 billion to $10 billion during Senate floor consideration.

Senator Specter’s amendment would provide an additional $6.5 billion for research and capital improvements at NIH, bringing the total funding level for NIH to $10 billion. Increased funding for the NIH will immediately create new jobs and prevent job losses for researchers, technicians, and thousands of others in communities across the country. It will also secure the resources needed to hasten better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

Thank you to the PAN advocates who took action in support of NIH funding in the House bill. On January 28, the House of Representatives passed their version of the bill, which included $3.5 billion for NIH.

E-mail your Senators now and urge them to support additional NIH funding in the American Recovery Reinvestment Act of 2009! Make your voices heard again!

Default no med - i'm dead

Billion - the new million - 10 sounds like a mere drop in the bucket. But thank you for working for us. i have no way to fathom the amounts or value of money in this economy - it's gotten past us all.

We are flying down a slippery slide. i just hope i can hold onto my med plan and health insurance.

worried but find it fascinating to watch events unfold.
