I agree girija. The timing was a little bad for me as I had to travel to my daughter's for a birthday dinner during the webcast and may have missed a question or two.
I also liked the format and the three priorities chosen. I am confused on a daily basis over what is making me dysfunction cognitively - meds or PD. The advantage of discovering genes is obvious. And the gray areas in the never never land of placebo, growth factor delivery, and sham surgery were not avoided. Yes, we heard their side, but I think there is room for much more investigation about it and I am hopeful that the researchers do not disagree. Thanks MJFF! Keep em coming. And thanks for not emphasizing stem cells this time around. It's getting political again, and that leads to nowhere in many conversations. Great music before the webcast started too! paula

Glad you guys watched; I tuned in later than planned.
I thought the webcast was just as good as being there in person.

Thank you, Debi, and MJFF. I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the roundtable today. Having such a conference come to me rather than my having to get on a plane, stay in a hotel, spend a lot of money and energy to hear such experts in PD research in person is wonderful. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to hear and discuss (well, Q & A) such pertinent issues as sham surgery and the failures of growth factor trials with some of the real players. I look forward to participating in more MJFF roundtables.

I have to add my thanks and "amen" to all the points made above. I was so relieved to hear of the cross-disciplinary and transnational efforts going on with the intensity that I had hoped I think it's a good thing to communicate to customers/clients/consumers/patients something of how the system works, because there's got to be something between "golly gee, doctor sir" and the anger against doctors that seems to be getting more common.
I caught just about the whole webcast, with some minor interruptions while my Macintosh fought with the Windows medium, and every speaker was good, subject matter brilliantly chosen, major concerns openly addressed--in short, EXCELLENT WORK! Please convey our thanks to everyone at MJFF. Jaye |

I wanted to thank those of you who were able to join us last night for the webcast of our Atlanta Research Roundtable and panel Q & A. We had about 80 folks in the room with us and an additional 300 plus who watched via the Web. We had over 45 minutes of questions (great ones in fact) and didn't get to everything but we certainly covered significant ground between the select topics we presented and those additional topics raised. (About 50 of the Web viewers provided feedback via the survey we provided and those thoughts are also very useful as we work to optimize the Web experience as well as the session content.)
I wanted to be sure to let you all know that the Webcast is now available on our Web site in the News and Events section ... I'd post a link but I think I'm too new a member to be permitted to do so. Please look for information from MJFF via email about upcoming Webcasts (we have two more scheduled for this year so far) but in each instance, the session will be available after the fact on our site for several months. Best, Debi |

I agree with all the other positive comments on the MJFF webcast, and add my thanks. I also thought the level of the discussions and responses to questions was just right for the audience - understandable, but not merely the "Cliff notes version". Members of the Scientific Advisory Board who were in the audience also answered questions in their areas of expertise.
The Parkinson's Disease Foundation has also been making a number of their programs available on webcasts (a new program on young onset PD to be webcast from Houston was just announced) , and PAN has webcast their anuual Forum for the last two years. Given the rising costs of attending meetings, and the difficulties many of us have with traveling -- this is a great alternative. |

copied to cere 120 thread.
Linda, I was thinking the same thing - we are fortunate to have 3 main pd orgs using webcasts to communicate directly with patients. And as a result of the MJFF webcast, the cere 120 story moves on. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/ne...ote=1&p=463756 oh forget about it - i lost it - not meant to be

Hi,
I think its online already. Here is a part of the email I got from MJFF "The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s first Virtual Roundtable, Webcast live from Atlanta, Georgia, on February 9. We wanted to let you know that a full-length video of the event, including Q&A with our expert panel, is now available on the Foundation’s Web site. Visit our site to learn more and watch the video.
