Evonne-
It may be anxiety or it may turn out to be PD. It may take time to know. Even though you have a very good MDS, it doesn't mean he will always recognize PD. I had a prominent MDS tell me there was nothing wrong with me in Jan. 2000. He told me I could go back to him if symptoms increased, but I could never go back to that doctor because he was very rude in the way he told me there was nothing wrong with me. If you like your MDS, stay with him and be patient.

I have had PD for 10 years and never had a visible tremor until the past year. I did have a ENT doctor tell me I had a tremor on my larynx about 2 or 3 years ago.

My Parkinson's symptoms were very atypical in the beginning. I had a neuro tell me there was something neurologically wrong, but he didn't know what it was, in Oct. 99. That was after 6 mos. of a variety of tests and visiting another neuro for a second opinion. When I would talk to people, they would be incredulous that the neuro didn't know what was wrong with me. That led me to keep trying other doctors, some of whom said it was just anxiety or there was nothing wrong with me. My PD progressed very slowly at the beginning, and it wasn't until I developed a symptom more typical of PD that I was diagnosed- I started having difficulty getting up from a chair without holding the arms of the chair. I was first prescribed PD meds in Oct. 2005 and was officially dxed shortly after that.

I hope for your sake that it is just anxiety and not PD, but just wanted you to know my experience. I am sorry that there are no easy answers. I am glad that you have a MDS that you like and I hope he can help you to feel better.

Chicory,

I am really in a state of disbelief, I guess. It isn't that I wanted to hear that I had PD. I was just hoping for an answer....to be able to put a name to this thing that has taken my body over bit by bit over the last two years.

I have always been the type of person to listen to my instincts and trust my gut whenever something comes up with me or my children. My gut has not led me wrong so far. My gut is telling me that there is something more wrong with me, aside from anxiety. No denying...I have anxiety. I just don't think that I have it to the point that it would cause all of these problems. There have been periods of time in the last two years when my life hasn't been full of anxiety...these physical symptoms didn't go away. They have progressively gotten worse. It just doesn't sit well with me. Finding this site and listening to people describe the things that they are going thorough...and relating to so much of it myself. I think it is more than a coincidence or the power of suggestion. I had the symptoms before I ever found the site. I had written it all up on my computer because I wanted to keep track of how things progressed.

I do really trust this doctor. I think that he is amazing. I think that if he is able to find the reason behind my muscle fatigue he will be closer to figuring out what is really going on inside of my body. My very first complaint was difficulty climbing stairs. My legs began shaking uncontrollably. As time has passed, things have gotten worse all throughout my body. With each repetitive movement my shakiness increases. I guess that is because of the muscle fatigue. If it is muscle related, hopefully it is something that can be fixed fairly easily.

Thanks for sharing your story with me.

I am seeing Dr. Anthony Santiago. Prior to him, I was seeing a neurologist named Dr. David Greeley.
