Default Weekly Check In Feb 22-28, 2009

Hi Everyone..I'm back..Evonne may not have pd, so she asked if I wanted to take the thread back, so here ah is..Hopefully she has something that can be treated, so she can get on with her life..That would certainly be a blessing!..So Thank You Evonne for taking the thread for a few weeks..You did a great job!!

So..I put my boat back in the water this past week, and went out digging shellfish on Wednesday..Physically, I did better than I thought I would do, but had to keep moving the boat around to get on the clams, and in the process evidently, a couple of starter bolts were loose, and one of them broke off inside the casing..So I took the starter out when I got in, and on the next decent day, Im gonna go down there and try to drill the damn thing out..Its a stainless bolt, so Im sure Im in for some real fun....Plus, the electricity is on the other dock, so Im gonna have to run about 500 feet of extension cord to get to my boat..See, Im at the poor man's dock, and the other dock was built with Federal money, so they've got the juice over there..Our dock was given to us by the town, and we maintain it and collect dues when it needs repair..We didnt have to pay anything last year, and the year before it was only $150..So, you get what you pay for, but it does the job

My symptoms have calmed down this past week, and Ive been feeling alot better..Going out on the water also did wonders for me, as it always has..So, Ive been in the process of getting back to the old routine, and am planning on going to the Unity Walk in New York this year..finally!..Went to my support group this morning..We had a brunch, and they twisted my arm into going on the Walk, so, I guess Im going..lol

How was your week?

This is off Rumstick Point in the mouth of the Warren River..Rumstick Rock in the background

Rumstick Point where that clump of trees are, and that is the Warren River..My dock is near those big white buildings way up river

Thumbs up Hmmmmmmm

Steve those clams sure look good....mmmmmmm
Well I got some of the test results back on Friday. The good news is all of the heart test show there is nothing wrong with the ticker. However my neurologist had some xrays of my chest taken so she could see the wire to my left stimulator that appeared disconnected to my primary care dr. the wire is ok but she did notice some spots on my lungs. She said it was out of her expertise but the spots were not normal and could be fluid buildup, infection, or yes ....cancer...I will find out more next wednesday.....more tests.

Other than that I am doing pretty good. still falling on the average of once or twice a day. Luckily I have not hurt myself seriously, I have landed fairly hard a couple of times.

The sun has been out and in the mid=50's the last couple of days. Rain is supposed to return tonight though.

How was your week......

Default Hi Steve

Hi Everyone:

Haven't posted for awhile but still check this board every day. Things are moving along for me. Met my new PD Doctor last week. He didn't change my medication as my symptoms haven't changed for some time. I take that back; it probably has changed but in such small increments that I don't notice it. Even so, my life will soon change. This week I will be going to New York city to check in on one of the trials that I'm on. On March 4 I will go to Maine Medical for a knee replacement. The operation will last fot 2 hours after which I will spend several days in the hospital and then transfer to a rehab center for some days. This knee has been bothering me for years and I'll be glad to have it fixed. Other things of note. Yesterday, I beat my wife three straight games of Scrabble. She is much brighter than I am and has beaten me at this game for months. We usually play several games a day. My grandson celebrated his third birthday. He calls me "His buddy." Another grandson just turned 2. He calls me Poppa and loves to sit on my lap and watch Thomas, the Train. One of my former doctoral students just co-authored a paper in SCIENCE. I emailed congratulations. I co-authored a paper which will appear in an upcoming issue of SCIENCE. It's on climate change in the Southern Ocean. That's it for me. Winter is here. Last winter we had 180 inches of snow. Will probably get less this year.

All the best,

Lloyd

Default Hello

Well, I got the lab results back that my MDS ran on my muscles. Everything turned out normal. I was really hoping that it would indicate the cause of my muscle weakness, stiffness, and tremor. No such luck. I am not sure what the doctor is going to do next, but I should hear something soon.

Steve,
I am glad to hear that you are back out on the water enjoying yourself! It sure is beautiful there. The weather here has been pretty dark, gloomy and rainy. Not my favorite time of the year at all!

Dbiker,
Keep us posted on the spots on your lungs. Hopefully it will turn out to be something minor. I will pray for you.

Default today is big day for me

today is my back surgery. They will be fusing S1, L5 and L4. I think the hardest part will be recovery and wearing a brace for 3-4 months. It will be nice tho if it can reduce the constant pain I have been in..
On a better note, here is some of the glass work I have been doing. I have been working with glass for 2.5 yrs now.
I haven't added an image before, hope this worked.
Evonne, I hope you find some answers for your health concerns. That must be hard not knowing.

Default Good morning:

What a treat to read this thread. Welcome home Steve Glad to hear life is becoming calm again. You appreciate the peace you used to think of as mundane..until you lose it. Then it becomes the beautiful blessing in your life that it is meant to be. Nothing has changed except your view of life. Interesting isn't it?

Libra: your glass work is beautiful? Show us more. I am always astounded at the creativity here.

Well blessings on you all. Evonne, your legs sound like my legs. My Neuro is questioning my PD diagnosis as well. In spite of all the external manifestations of what is wrong with us, I believe it all has roots that go down into the deepest parts of our spiritual-selves. I often think of the story in the NT about the man who is sick and his friends cut a hole in the roof and lower his bed into the room where Jesus is teaching and He is told his sins are forgiven him, and to take up his bed and go home. Makes me wonder how much of our dis-ease is at the root of our disorders.

Now that you've all had your Sunday school lesson for the week...you can skip church next Sunday (LOL)
