this article suggests naltrexone (LDN?) for anxiety. At least I think that's what it said... Is that what they've been saying all along? or is this a different approach? duh.... |

Hi, I'm not a parkie and don't suffer from anxiety, but I do take LDN (low dose Naltrexone) for my Multiple Sclerosis.
I didn't read every word, but gleaned this from the article: "Mixed effects regression results revealed that across time, the naltrexone group tolerated significantly less time in the room with the feared animal (Behavioral Avoidance Index) as compared to the placebo and no drug groups. Phobic individuals assigned to the naltrexone group had significantly higher fear ratings across time in comparison to the placebo group." It appears that LDN isn't much good for abating fears. Thanks for posting the article, Ibken.

On this issue of Naldextrone for anxiety. The article here is not referring to the Low Dose Naldextrone that is actually said to boost the endorphin system in the brain. Instead it looks like they purposefully used the high dose of this med which is clearly designed to block these receptors. It does make sense than that the outcome of the study says it will Increase anxiety. Would be interesting to see a similar study of folks taking the low (4 mg) dose instead of the high (50mg dose).
