I'm curious because of all the reading I've done about disease/inflammation and diet.
It seems, at least in the US, we have a very meat based diet and over the millenia, humans ate a larger proportion of roots and vegetables than meat. The last time I tried changing my diet I basically starved myself because I didn't pursue alternatives to meat, I just ate way less. I think I may try a primarily vegetarian diet with the addition of fish and maybe chicken. I'm frustrated with the constant offering of medication from the doctor and lack of relief and thought I might be better served focusing on diet and exercise. "Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati"

Here is a vegetarian who never tasted ham in her life! By the way there is much more than fiber in vegetarian food!

Hi RD42,
I have always been a meat eater. The only exception was as a child during the second world war, when in the UK , food was rationed and you got a ounce or 2 of bacon and other meats. per week. Since childhood, I have eaten all types of red meat, chicken, and fish, particularly plaice and scampi. Ron

Contrary to all conventional wisdom but what my body wants. Back in the archives is a long thread on diet and blood type. There is a rather logical hypothesis that our dietary needs are linked to our blood type because evolution selected for both in parallel. Mass migration isolated groups such that those who ended up in the far north with limited plant foods evolved in favor of meat, those who developed agriculture favored grains, raising cattle selected for dairy, etc. Are you going to eat that?

Born in 1953, 1st symptoms and misdiagnosed as essential tremor in 1992. Dx with PD in 2000. Currently (2011) taking 200/50 Sinemet CR 8 times a day + 10/100 Sinemet 3 times a day. Functional 90% of waking day but fragile. Failure at exercise but still trying. Constantly experimenting. Beta blocker and ACE inhibitor at present. Currently (01/2013) taking ldopa/carbadopa 200/50 CR six times a day + 10/100 form 3 times daily. Functional 90% of day. Update 04/2013: L/C 200/50 8x; Beta Blocker; ACE Inhib; Ginger; Turmeric; Creatine; Magnesium; Potassium. Doing well. |
