Default Songs I sing when I walk....

Sarah Mclachlan's "Answer". It's in the film Brave One with Jodi Foster, which I surprisingly liked. All the songs sound better with headphones!

Lyrics:

"And so it goes" sung by Jennifer Warnes (it's a Billy Joel song) is such a simple song but moving to me...I think her version is better than Joel's...

I sing these when I walk:

Barbara Dickson - It Goes Like It Goes...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd2ABDqE3s8

It opens Norma Rae, too:

If you have cable on demand, Norma Rae is a free movie now. You can record that song with Jennifer Warnes singing with no talking over it. I love her voice. It opens the film.

Midnight Radio from Hedwig sung by Dar Williams:

Hedwig and the Angry Inch - Origin of Love:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YO9F...eature=related

hedwig -wig in a box...FUN tribute:

Singing really helps me walk better.

Love this one:

Lover, you should've come over by Jeff Buckley:

Default "Your Brain on Music" by Daniel J. Levitin"

Daniel Levitin is a former professional Rock Guitar/Sax Manwho has played with Max Torme, Blue Oyster Cult, and David Bird. He has also produced several gold records to his credit and has worked with Stevie Wonder. Went back to college and became a neuroscientist researcher. Has written two books, The one mentioned in the Title to this post and "The World in Six Songs."

I have read both and have been working against the St. Paul, MN. school board who wish to ban Instrumental music in the St. Paul schools. I have volunteered there for 18 years working with elementary school teachers. I will be speaking at the School Board meeting on St. Patty's day. The topic of my speach will be "How Musical Expertise Improves Cognitive Skills."

Wish me luck!!

Good for you, Vicky! Good luck!

Music instruction in school is SO important! I get so angry when I think of money being cut back for important things, and AIG executives STILL getting mega millions in bonuses after accepting taxpayer money. How do they sleep at night?

I'm thinking bout getting a MIDI piano which hooks up to the computer so I can save music I write as written music. I also want to learn how to read music again. I forgot. Never thought that would happen; I studied piano and was pretty good at it, too.

I tried to read music recently at my brother's piano and I could not. But I was able to compose some sweet music, which really surprised me, but it's gone into the ether. I wish I could have saved it.

A scientist here says when she plays the flute a lot, she thinks better and designs better experiments. I think you build new neural networks. i've said this before: when I studied typing in high school, my sight reading at the piano improved. I think both activities used the same brain connections: sight to hand connections.
