going off so making it short. i 'm not debating or answering questions with more questions. i'm not going to agree, i can't think of anything i sai d that was telling people how to live or that was discriminatory. I said the words stem cell research and gay marriage. That's all you have to do.

Default no personal accusations

Paula, just to clarify, I never said you were telling people how to live or being discriminatory. I simply responded to your statement that, "We are going to destroy ourselves from within, and it will be the left/right division that does it. nothing good comes from hatred, division and condemnation."

I said, "This does not have to be our legacy (as a society or a nation) if we learn to live and let live."

If those on both sides of the issue cannot hear what the other is saying, this will remain an elusive dream.

Default excuse the detour

No problem, Chemar. When I first answered Paula, I did not expect the discussion to continue on as it did. Speaking for myself, it's over.

I hope others will continue on with the original topic and excuse the detour.

As a man thinketh, so is he.

We are all in a giant virtual reality bubble. Or possibly I am here alone.....

Philosophiclly: it's not about our challenges ; IT'S ABOUT HOW WE RESPOND TO THEM.

What about what we have learned about metaphysics. How can it be if you split an atom you can blow a hole big enough to scare the begeebees out of any sane person?

just some of my random thoughts. J

Default These are real scientists

From http://twm.co.nz/hologram.html
"
The Universe as a Hologram
by Michael Talbot

Does Objective Reality Exist, or is the Universe a Phantasm?

In 1982 a remarkable event took place. At the University of Paris a research team led by physicist Alain Aspect performed what may turn out to be one of the most important experiments of the 20th century. You did not hear about it on the evening news. In fact, unless you are in the habit of reading scientific journals you probably have never even heard Aspect's name, though there are some who believe his discovery may change the face of science.
Aspect and his team discovered that under certain circumstances subatomic particles such as electrons are able to instantaneously communicate with each other regardless of the distance separating them. It doesn't matter whether they are 10 feet or 10 billion miles apart. Somehow each particle always seems to know what the other is doing. The problem with this feat is that it violates Einstein's long-held tenet that no communication can travel faster than the speed of light. Since traveling faster than the speed of light is tantamount to breaking the time barrier, this daunting prospect has caused some physicists to try to come up with elaborate ways to explain away Aspect's findings. But it has inspired others to offer even more radical explanations.
University of London physicist David Bohm, for example, believes Aspect's findings imply that objective reality does not exist, that despite its apparent solidity the universe is at heart a phantasm, a gigantic and splendidly detailed hologram. ...."

and from http://www.newscientist.com/article/...html?full=true ....

"...If this doesn't blow your socks off, then Hogan, who has just been appointed director of Fermilab's Center for Particle Astrophysics, has an even bigger shock in store: "If the GEO600 result is what I suspect it is, then we are all living in a giant cosmic hologram.".....
....."

We LOOOVE Red Dwarf and Doctor Who in our house, do you have those in the States......!!

On the other hand homeopathy could really ride the wave of this article.

Just proves we don't know everything yet, and everything is up for conjecture. I love an open mind!
