yes, you have company. Fortunately, its not that bad, thanks to accupuncture and massage sessions.

this is just how i am experiencing it. don't know about other bodies - but i have noticed that lots of pd''ers have postural probs, neck/back/knee surgery... for me physical 'insullts - falls, some bodywork, etc can cause a worsening of "pd symptoms" often as quickly as overnight. Girija, i rememmber thinking my unnoticeable scoliosis was nothiing to worry about. ... and then slowly but surely it began to progress. i think exercises massage, acupuncture are a good idea - to support the musculo-skeletal system. as for the levodopa-dysky stuff, i dare to hope there might be an acceptable , effective other substance w/ differennt 'pathways" - or somesuch.. i'm not sure about this dopamine thing anyway.i already use mucuna - in fact it might be a major culprit in the dysky chain. physical therapist appt this week, neuro the next! there's an answer out there somewhere! ibby |

Good question. In my case, its post PD and I think dystonia related. I also had a very painful frozen shoulder problem. I am pretty sure it was PD induced too, I was forcing my arm to work when its already stiff. In my case, both shoulder and spine problems became apparent due to dystonia and are post PD.

I had a total joint replacement of my left shoulder 2/5/09. It still hurts just as much as before the surgery. PT is too painful to attempt. Anyone have any ideas?

has a former professor who had surgery on his spine for herniated disks. He developed a staph infection after the surgery and it ate away the lower part of his spinal chord. He was diagnosed with PD shortly afterword. At our meetings, he is wheelchair bound and unable to straighten up. We always check with him to see if he is OK. At our last meeting he finally spoke up. He asked, "We need to find out what is causing PD!" His question has been haunting me ever since. Could it be a spinal injury that spreads through the spinal chord through injury to the spinal chord?
My sister, who has had indications of PD longer than I, and devoted her entire life to nursing, had scholiosis and fell off a horse in her junior summer of high school, puncturing her spinal fluid. My abusive father slapped me so hard behind my neck, causing my nose and ears to bleed and I blacked out the labor day after my graduation from high school and the day my mother walked out on him. I was finally in a place where I accepted my disease as no one's fault and was willing to live a normal life and stop questioning why? Now I am once more wondering ... ? |
