Default Chelation therapy - good or bad??

Hi - has anyone tried chelation therapy for peripheral polyneuropathy? I am at wits end - idiopathic after 3 years (spinal tap, muscle biopsy, nerve biopsy, MRI, CT scan, every blood test known to mankind - bla bla bla - and still nothing). I was reading the other day about mercury in fish and the neurological problems that can result, including neuropathy. Well, I am a huge fish eater, and that got me wondering. My wonderful and well meaning husband suggested chelation therapy, and has been after me ever since to give it a try. I have googled it of course, and it is a treatment for PN but obviously not without controversy. My current treatment is IVIG which unfortunately is not working.
Does anyone have any information on this?

Thanks!!!

This has always been a tough question.

If you suspect mercury or any heavy metal like arsenic (common in well water) being a culprit you can get testing-- blood testing, or even hair testing--from a good lab.

This thread has a post from Marlene who visits this forum too:

I agree that if you decide to do it, it should be for good reasons.
And be done by a very experienced/qualified doctor.

Hi. I am not familiar with this though have heard about mercury/fish/neuro issues. That is why I have cut down thouhg not out the fish that is high in it. I am sorry that your IVIG is not helping. Are you on any meds that could possibly assist?
