Does anyone one deal with painful arthritis along with you PN? I was wondering what you do for it? What is the best over the counter pain pill for arthritis? Thanks for any suggestions....

Which kind of arthritis are you asking about?

I have osteoarthritis in my lower back, hips and knees. Lately I have woken up during night with hip, knee and back pain all at once. It's worse on my left side. I'm afraid it runs in my family.

I've had OA for many years.

I use OTC Salonpas patches mostly for it.

I try to stay away from drugs, but I will do OTC Aleve liquigels when in alot of pain. One a day is very strong and far superior to tablets.

I also use high strength magnets at night.

Thanks MrsD. I'm heading to the store today and I will pick up some Aleve to try. Could you tell me a bit more about the high strength magnets?

Oh, we've had many posts on here about it. Do a search at the top of the page. Brian has had success with them too.

I only use very strong neodymium ones. I've used them for over 10 yrs now. Not every day tho. Now I do my old cat with a "treatment" when she comes to bed with me. She relaxes instantly and goes right to sleep. Without the magnet she is always bothering me. She has arthritis too, and limps and has trouble getting around now. There are no drugs for cats other than prednisone for this, and I don't like to give that unless she is really really bad. I start at her head with the magnet in my palm and do her neck and spine. I've tested her without the magnet in my hand, and she shows no response to the touching.
So I know it works. With a really strong magnet you don't have to wear them all day, you can just put them on for 1hr or less.

This is similar to what I have now (but mine are not coated like this one is). I think I'll get 2 of these also. I like the coating.
I only paid about $1.25 for mine years ago. I used to have smaller ones, but these 1 inchers are better IMO.

This one is more like the ones I have now:

For most purposes you would want the S pole against the body.

Weaker magnets do not penetrate deeply. I don't advise using them near the eyes or on the head. (but some places advertise head use for headache). I am leary of the head. But I have used them for neck spasms, I sometimes get on my left side.

You cannot use them if you have a pacemaker, or other implanted device. And I don't advise going on the computer with them either.

Here is another site to look at:

This is their safety page:
http://www.emovendo.net/pages.php?pageid=4

That other site had hidden charges for shipping, which I was not happy with, BTW.

These magnets are common now, so watch for tricks and hidden charges.
