That very well could be, Mrs. D, maybe I should return to just walking 30-40 minutes daily and see if that helps. It could be that the action of the foot on the pedals causes an unwanted stress. Thank you! |
Bike riding was not for me either. The legs would get tired very quickly and I had much better results with daily walks downtown.

To me that's more proof that it's hard to compare notes sometimes... When my pain was still really bad, I could easily do 30 minutes on my home trainer, where a 5 minute walk would just kill me. The bike helped me get mobile again.
Then again a stationary bike may be different from the real thing? Ps: the cool part was that I could hook up an iPad to that thing, and virtually ride through Rome or Paris with the aid of Google Earth. ;) |
I think if some people have compressive issues in the ankles, or arthritis, the bike can be painful. Others probably not so much.
It might be determined by the individual's anatomy etc.;) |
Type of Symptoms - are they there 24/7 ?
Hi , I have three questions for those with AN :
1) do you have BOTH numbness and tingling - if so, which came first ? 2) do you have your symptoms ( numbness/tingling/pain) 24/7 - or does it come and go throughout the day (are there times when it is not there at all ?) 3) do you have very severe pain ? Thanks so much ..I'm trying to see how I compare ! All the very best , S |
A1: Yes, both, but tingling was first (but long gone now)
A2: Worse in mornings after sleeping and afternoons. Mine would minimize when laying down A3: No. |

Were there periods ( hours) when the tingling disappeared completely ? Sorry for all the questions ! S |
I never really had numbness and only very slight tingling: I just had sharp pains, painful cramps, burning, and the feeling of walking on rocks.
The pain was less after sleeping and got worse throughout the day. I recently had a tooth abscess (it had to be extracted) and that didn't even register compared to the pains I used to feel in my feet. It very much depends on which nerves are damaged, and other complications like arthritis etc. |
Both feet equally ?
Thank you Wide-O - and was it in both feet equally ? If so, did both start at the same time ?
What did you take for the pain ? How long did it take to do away ? S x Quote:

Wide-O nailed it above with "To me that's more proof that it's hard to compare notes sometimes..."
As you can see, our symptoms are almost opposite :) I never had severe pain, I really did not have any pain at all. Hot baths helped with the tingling as did laying flat, but I drank so heavily that I could not really pinpoint any real time frames....LOL |
