Oh sure, that almost goes without saying - but you are right to point it out again. Part of being sober is accountability, and this thread for me and others is a big motivator.

Ever wonder why I post my sober days on the same day each month? Wait for it....

...I would feel like a total ***** if I had to put ZERO. Or if I just up and disappeared.

It's part of being accountable :D

And we would miss you! I wondered this morning how the Zoloft is going and how you found returning to work with large groups of people?

I was taking 25mg and it was not working the way I wanted so I went off it about a week ago.....

Looking for another option without prescription meds (I am not a fan of meds at all) so we will see....but I spoke at a meeting yesterday of parole officers and such and did just fine.

It is very hit and miss for me.

Thinking of you Coopster. Stay strong.

Thanks Mr P.
Saturday, and I am still dry. My appetite has come back with a vengeance, which can only be a good thing. I have however, found that my moods are swinging greatly. Optimistic one minute, can't see any light the next. I hope this passes.
How are you doing?

Day six and I feel relatively chipper. I wish my moods would remain stable! To be honest, I do believe the weather has an effect on my mood. At the moment, although cold, it is bright and sunny, and I am about to go for a walk around a local conservation and beauty spot. I know I should count myself lucky to be able to do this, as some of you Guys have symptoms so painful, it would be out of the question. I feel for you, I really do. Please stay strong everyone, we WILL get there. :grouphug:

Good job on day six coopster :).

In my experience mood fluctuations can be quite common in the early days so nothing to stress about I think.

Going for a walk around a local conservation area is a great idea, not only from the physical exercise angle but also just noticing the beauty there (mindfulness) has, for me, made a big difference.

Well, I've let myself down again. Bottle of Shiraz tonight. Although as some kind of self justification, I refrained from indulging in more, even though it was there on a plate. Or in a bottle. I don't know, maybe I can drink responsibly?
Sorry for letting the side down.:Sorry:

Coopster, it happens in recovery, it is not the end, you can still keep on keeping on. Have you given some thought to Campral - my DB says it has helped reduce the cravings or there is naltrexone - which takes away the buzz, so you drink less over time because it doesn't offer the enjoyment it once did. Both methods are reliant on you taking the tablets and work best with some sort of therapy to help you work it through.

I don't think that you have anything to feel sorry about - I reckon that it is something that happens to all of us in the early days (it sure did for me).

My psychologist has a good sentence which I hope that you finding supporting: "It was a lapse, not a relapse."

Icehouse 03-08-2016 06:43 AM

Pfft, I have "lapsed" dozens of times....nothing out of the ordinary here.

You will find your groove and, one day it will just happen. The fact that you actually WANT to reduce, or cease altogether, is more important than you think. It's on your mind.

Keep up the good work!
