Steak and cheeseburgers are a weekly staple in my life....and I feel great! Not a big chicken fan unless they are called "wings".....LOL
I just went on a 23 hour tour of NYC driving a prison van. Yeah, a prison van. If I can do it, you can do it..... |
SecondChances, it is great that you are feeling better :).
Red meat is a good source of many nutrients, including iron, zinc, Vitamin B12 among others. |
What's the saying of AA, cunning and baffling? PN is a close second. Pins and needles are back and am going thru a gentle slide backward but I am still not back to walking with a cane and even a bad day is better then where I have been. Abstinence is a beautiful thing and these bumps in road must be expected I guess.

The mind works in funny ways. Last night I was dreaming, and although I forget the first part, mid-dream I found myself jogging along a country lane without any pain. One guy, with long hair and a naked torso, did jog/jump past me way faster, but I still was setting a good pace. "I need to tell about this on Neurotalk" I dreamt.
After that, it got a bit weird as dreams do, I turned a corner, marveled at how they had made a new footpath on that road (a road that seemed familiar in the dream but doesn't ring bells now that I'm awake) so I kept on jogging only to find that the path ended in a spot where 4 lanes of upcoming traffic came towards me (those urban planners... tssk). Cars tried to avoid me, but soon ended in a massive pile-up. I now sat in one of these cars and heard someone say to the police, pointing at me "he can't walk so be careful". I remember thinking they all knew it was my fault, and then woke up. The guy with the long hair... I had seen a video, yesterday afternoon, that someone had sent me, of Iggy Pop talking to his parrot. The jogging? I had felt rather OK lately, doing lots of garden work, and I had bought myself running shoes because they are very comfortable a few weeks ago. Late last night I had watched a cop program with lots of traffic accidents etc. So that can all be explained, but it's funny that I dreamed that I needed to talk about it on here. :D |
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has bizarre dreams! Although during my heavy drinking days, I would dream almost nightly of being at a bar and ordering a drink...nothing bizarre about that
Update on me - I completed my spine decompression and laser therapy a few weeks ago, and although I'm still a bit numb, I don't have near as much pain as I used to, which I am grateful for. It's as it's always been, that I have good days and bad days. I'm pretty sure it's linked to what I have been eating. |
Wide-O, what a surreal dream :). Do you dream in colour?
WannaGetFeelingBack, that is good to read :). |
To be honest, I never paid attention to that. I'll do from now on. I find dreams fascinating, but I also am pretty good in finding out why I dream about certain things. It's like a dedective story trying to find out why & what. Most of the time it's my brain processing/trying to make sense of things that happened to me earlier.
What amazes me most is how long I can remember certain dreams, and how places & people (fictional ones) return over the years, sometimes after a very long time. Not everything makes sense though. I often dream about forgetting where I parked my car - last night was no different, and the setup for me jogging - even though that never happened to me, nor am I worried I ever will. It's just that something as rational/practical as thinking "ooh, I have to post on Neurotalk about this" was utterly funny to me, especially as I did just that. :D |
BTW, frivolity aside, for those with PN in the feet, modern day running shoes - and I mean the more expensive ones used by serious amateur-runners, especially those who run long distance on tarmac a lot - are something to try out. They are light, designed not to irritate, cause no friction, and absorb the shocks from steps completely, like walking around on cushions. You don't have to actually run to get the advantage, just walking around the house/shopping may be a bit easier with them.
For me it was one of these "why didn't I think of this before" revelations. |

I then spent $100USD on a "good" pair and it's like night and day. This is excellent advice for us PN people!! |
I gotta invest in some good shoes. I am vain and like the trendy funky stuff but limping around is not the look I am looking for either.
I am well and hangin' in. I have bad and better days and that is just how this thing is gonna go but as long as there is no further progression I will be satisfied. I am done beating myself up about my self inflicted condition and "it is what it is" and "it takes what it takes". Stay well my friends. |
