I was wondering if anyone here who is recovering from alcoholic PN can describe what it was feeling like along the weeks/months you were getting feeling back? Icehouse, particularly in your case, as I know it was long and drawn out. What kind of feelings did you have in your feet & legs along the way, as you were healing? Was it burning, or itching, or tingling, or anything like that? Or any other sensations? Or did the feeling just start coming back after your nerves were healing? I'm trying to gauge my own situation to see if I am progressing. Thanks!!!

Yes.

I never had any significant pain or burning, in my case it was primarily a 'tingling' feeling like pins and needles all the time. It was in my feet and lower legs, and in my hands (fingers).

I could not even walk, or even hold a cell phone.

Over the course of the last 3 years I have regained that feeling back and I am 90% healed I would guess. I still walk with a catch in my gait and I get tired if I stand too long. It has been a long, slow process that takes patience, determination and hope.

I don't know if I will ever be able to run again, or water-ski but I conquer one goal at a time and take what my God gives me one day at a time.

Thanks for your reply, Icehouse! I have been feeling some pain in my feet lately, which I hadn't really before. I had heard that sometimes when nerves are getting "regenerated", that you may feel some pain, since they are "coming back". I have no idea if that's true or not, but I am hoping so, and that my pain is because of that and not that I am getting progressively worse . Still faithfully taking Benfotiamine, B-12 Methyl and R-ALA.
