For heartburn issues, make sure you take your supplements (except the B12) with some food, and plenty of water, so they can dissolve properly.

My son gets heartburn from B-complex. Always.
There is an enteric coated P-5-P which may help. It has B2, B6, and a small amount of magnesium in it. If you are taking B-complex, try, the NOW enteric coated. (it does not dissolve until past the stomach completely).

Since you take the Benfotiamine already, you don't need the complex if you switch to the NOW product.

I don't need to take the B-complex if I'm on the Benfotiamine?

I have stopped taking a B-complex because of the amounts of B's I'm getting otherwise. To make b6 isn't good right?

Bummer mrsD the now product has wheat and gluten.

Where do you see wheat and gluten?

Other Ingredients

Dicalcium Phosphate, Cellulose, Stearate Acid (vegetable source), Croscarmellose Sodium and Magnesium Stearate (vegetable source).

Contains no milk, wheat, gluten, corn, soy, egg, yeast, sugar, salt or preservatives.

Vegetarian Formula
I seem to recall advising you to read things carefully in the past? I worry when I see people here show confusion like this. I really do
I don't think you can follow a supplement plan if you are not reading posts here or other information carefully.

If you decide to take the P-5-P product, to avoid heartburn issues, and you continue with the benfotiamine, and B12 separately, I don't think you need a B-complex separately at this time.

Since your Gluten test was positive....I think you will have to be patient, and take care of your diet for a while. This may reduce your GI symptoms quite a bit, or completely. I'd continue the B12 anyway, if you temporarily stop your other supplements.
You are most likely deficient in other things too. (some minerals, like zinc and trace others with the gluten reactions).
As you improve the inflammation from removing gluten, you may start absorbing other nutients more normally over time.

I suggest you visit the gluten forum here and get further advice from people who have done this and succeeded over time.

Hi Marty,

I don't where in Utah you live, but here is a list of celiac/gluten sensitivity support groups in Utah. Pick the one closest you you, and send off an email. You may even want to attend a few meetings. But, if nothing else, they should be able to tell you the best places to get gluten free speciality foods in your area... especially if you are looking for a particular item. But, you have it right... sticking to those whole foods is the easiest and best for you... and use the specialty products on occasion.

I tried this gluten forum but there just wasn't enough ppl there to help so I've been talking to Cara and Anne and the folks at her site.

I'm sorry and I'm trying. I get confused easy due to the drugs. It looked to me like the link in your post for the P-5-P product it listed wheat and gluten in it but indeed it says "contains NO". I do try to read up but I'm a really busy man with much responsibilities other then my PN. Unfortunately for the PN.

Maybe I'd better stick to one forum right now when I'm making so many changes. First and foremost at this time the gluten ppl who I've been talking to for the past couple of months and have helped me find this intolerance can help me get things sorted out with my new diet. I just dropped by to let folks know that I did indeed test positive. I will stay on the supplements and do the best I can given my knowledge concerning them.

Well got to go check responses on my gospel site. Later.

Sorry

Marty that is such a complicated thing trying to figure out what you can eat and what vitamin will work for you, especially when your diet is limit. But I am glad that you are able to get help here and learn more about it. As frustrating as it is now, I know you will get the hang of it with the help of others and learning it yourself.

Hang in there,
