Does anyone have knowledge of Qutenza?
I understand It was approved last month for the management of neuropathic pain (a capsaicin patch, applied for 60 minutes, at 3 month intervals.) Flora |

Just read all of the full prescribing info here;
http://www.qutenza.com/_docs/qutenza_full_PI_.pdf AND I MEAN ALL of the info... including the side effects...they are key to it working or not. For the interim? If you have burning? A small spray bottle of water spritzed on to evaporate and cool the skin... It's the only thing I have found that worked so far. Good luck and let us all know how it works? I am seeing short articles stating that lidocaine may be approved to be applied to the area before using the new patch. Must be quite painful!

Hello,
I have used the roll on applicator at night for a month now, I roll it on under the 3rd and 4th toe on my right foot where the neuroma is supposed to be and then I place a separator between the two toes. It works as good as having a Lidocaine injection which I have pursued. The result is a dull sensation where it once was a sharp more intense pain. Since I also have BPH and also had TURP surgery for this back in June I still get up at 2 and 4 in the morning. The 4 am time is when I take 5mg of methyl B-12. I don't suggest putting capsaicin on top of the foot or any other tender spots of the body unless you enjoy unnecessary pain

I've never been able to tolerate capsacsin! Oh, it burns too much!
My son used my old tube, a while back for a sprained wrist and he loved it! So there you go! This patch has warnings about blistering skin, redness/swelling, etc. So it is VERY STRONG! Not like the other topicals out there now. I'd like to hear from anyone who decides to use this! According to the press release, it won't be available for another 3 mos or so.

The product I use is called Capzasin got it at Rite-Aid over a year ago it is a roll on applicator containing 0.15% capsaicin after 30 nights of usage it has helped a great deal, it might be killing the nerve. |
