Did a doctor give this to you? It is the doctor's job to monitor you while you take this drug.
Most PN doses are in the 10-25mg range. Some may take 50mg. Anything higher becomes a personal choice and approaches antidepressant levels. This drug can interact with other some drugs and has a potential for toxicity in overdoses, so typically the dose is kept low if possible. High dosing with this may affect the heart rhythm. |
Yes,
It was precribed by a doctor. However, what is strange is that the doctor precribe me a dosage of 25 mg and in the info paper it says the dosage is between 75 and 150 mg. Strange....Do you know this medicine? |
25mg of amitriptyline once a day is the average dose for PN.
I have been reading online that Portugal has decriminalized drugs. Are you buying your drugs without a doctor's prescription? |
Of course not :) It is impossible here.
Tell me what is the reason for your neuropathic pain? Do you know? |
I have had long standing low thyroid functioning (PN started from that 30 yrs ago), and now I have
insulin resistance (pre-diabetes). So far my PN is not progressing, due to diet control, and some supplements. I also have arthritis, I had a severe nerve damage from a C-section (meralgia paresthetica) which is quiet now finally, and have knee issues. I am just getting over severe left thigh pain from an adductor muscle/tendon tear (this was from a fall). I also have broken sesamoid bones in both feet. I am no stranger to pain. |
I also had a Tyroidite (but very small). And it is controled. I
take Eutirox 025 everyday. hmmm!!! You don't take neurotin or lyrica? Why? |

Update: I've been feeling significantly better the last few days. I occasionally have a not-too-bad day, but never a string of good days in a row like this. I've been on the Cybalta for about three weeks now. I hate to get my hopes up so soon, but it's hard not to. If it's really helping, maybe I could even taper off of the Ultram. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks! |
Hmm...posted a few hours ago to give an update (I thought) but now I don't see it. Maybe I clicked the wrong button or...? Anyway, I said before that I'm not sure now if the Cymbalta is helping or not. I've had several good days and several bad days so it's hard to tell overall. I probably should have rated my pain every day when I started this med so I could compare, but I guess if you're not sure, it's probably not helping all that much. Still, like I said, I don't usually have more than one good day in a row so maybe it is helping some.
I started yesterday on the dose my neuro wanted me to get up to (90mg) so I'll just have to wait to see for the next week or two. At least I don't seem to be having any side effects so at least there's that to be happy about. |
