I just finished round of Flagyl for a gyn infection. My symptoms have gotten a lot worse.
Between October 2005 and October 2007, I was on 5 rounds of Cipro and Avelox, fluoroquinolones, known to be neurotoxic. Each time I have been on a fluoroquinolone, my symptoms got worse. Now the Flagyl did the same thing. I new avelox was neurotoxic and read in a post by mrsd that flagyl is too. I am frustrated and nearly in tears today--waiting to hear if I got a job and am not sure at all that I can handle it---desk job with some driving. I used to be a teacher and can't do it any longer. I am more dizzy today, my vision has gotten worse, I am nauseated and weak, and the tingling, vibrating nerves have moved from my foot to my left achilles tendon area. Last night I had jerky spasms in that leg too. Will call my neuro's office tomorrow to see if they can get me into the neuropathy specialist sooner. Does anyone here have antibiotic related neuropathy? Would be nice to exchange information. This is all I can manage to type--brain fog is horrible. Thanks for reading. lifesaver54 |

They belong to the nitroimazole group of drugs known to be neurotoxic. It is such a pity that Doctors dont know this fact. |
