Oh Melody... you have me laughing so hard! That was sooo cute! I loved it! So, this chemistry thing... I DID see HIGH School sweetheart just last month! I went back to visit home town in December, went to say hi to his mom and he was there, we went to dinner, then to the movies, then spent three days together!!!!!! Wooo Hoooo!

NOT EVEN A KISS! He held my hand at the movies... that was it! I was so disappointed! So he offers to drive me to the airport the day I leave, I guess he wanted to talk to me "alone" you know how those "Irish Catholic" families are, they never give you time to yourself... (kind of like those Italian Catholics MeL )
Anyway, we pull up in the parking lot, he gets out to get my bags, (such a gentleman) and he says to me, "I just want you to know, I'm not gay or nuthin like that... I just haven't been with anybody since Jan died, and it feels weird" I had to hold in my laughter, I'm so glad he wasn't looking at me... because the snicker was ready to burst! So while we're walking into the airport, he said to me "Whatcha thinking about, I haven't heard you so quiet for such a long time?" I guess he was really nervous after he said that... So I said... "I'm thinking about the really long embarassing Good-bye kiss I'm going to give you in the airport!" His face turned all red and he laughed out loud.
When I got back home, the next day, there was a letter from him. He must have gone directly home and written to me. (He doesn't have a computer, kind of a "country boy") He told me what a great time he had and he can't wait to see me again. He is coming here in May to see me and he said that it can't get here soon enough. Awwwwww, how cute!

You have to remember, I grew up in a small town in Missouri, even though I live in California, and I am the only kid on our block who went to college, the boys mostly went into the service, and the girls went into Nursing or got married and had babies. I couldn't wait to see that mizerable place in my rear view mirror! Momma had me at 16, became a beautician, married a drunk and the rest can be heard on any album on any Country Western radio station in any small town West of the Mississippi. I left at 17 and never looked back, except to visit my momma every chance I got. Tried to get her to come here, but she never would leave her home town.
Anyway, his "given" name is Jerry, but we all call him "Bubb" yes, that's the truth! and he HAS all his front teeth! He is about 6'2" and looks like a corn fed boy! Actually, if he grew a beard, he would look just like Santa, just a few pounds lighter! He has those blue eyes that sparkle when he smiles, those cheeks that are so cute, and a smile that lights up his face when his really shy face finally lets a smile come out.

Boy, I sound like a school girl! gotta get back to work now... Mel, keep the funny stories coming! Poor David, he is probably still kicking himself in the *** for not asking you out way back in 1965!

Here's a poem to your childhood sweetheart!!!

I call it AN ODE TO BUBB!!!!

Your name is Jerry
But they call you Bubb
Your favorite pie is Cherry
You're cute as a cub!!!

You're 6'2
and since you were born
You can eat what you like
Especially CORN

With sparkling blue eyes
And a smile that is true
You never told lies
You little darlin, you!!!

When you visit in May
Change your name to KEITH
Have a really great day
AND WOW, YOU HAVE ALL YOUR TEETH!!!!
----------------------------------------------------

couldn't resist SeamsLikeStitches

Love, mel

I just wish I could remember David from 35 years ago who I had coffee and donuts with during a transit strike. And he says to me "you haven't changed a bit in 35 years". NOW THAT IS A BLIND MAN!!!!!

But you gotta love him!!!!

Smile Hi Stitches

That's a great story. It's very nice to see that you are living your life. I often wonder when it is appropriate to tell people that I have PN, and at what stage. But really is it anyone's business anyways? I mean you wouldn't go telling people about your gynecologist visits, so why offer up other medical issues. I can understand if the relationship progresses and you feel it's time to share more. But we do not have to walk around with PN badges for bloody sake!!

Anyways, it is very nice to hear stories of people enjoying their lives. It gives us all hope!

Best of luck-

Default Alan is so funny!!1

My Alan does not know how to cook. He won't learn no matter what I try.
He told me that when he first got divorced from his first wife (they were married for 3 months when she cleaned out his bank account), he had to move into an apartment by himself and the first day he went out and bought a frying pan, some hamburger meat, a cup for his coffee and some milk.
That night he cooked the hamburger.

He threw everything out (Including the pans). He said "this is not for me".
He went out to eat for ever meal after that. UNTIL HE MET ME!! and that was about 7 years later.

So we are newly married and I ask Alan "do you know how to cook?" and he goes "of course I do". I said: "Oh yeah, make me some scrambled eggs" and he rises to the challenge. He doesn't know how to turn on the stove so he takes a match and turns the thing and the stove lights up. He doesn't know how to regulate the burner (to put it high or low) so he leaves the burner on high, he puts two eggs in the frying pan and there is my Alan standing in front of the stove, raising and lowering the frying pan up in the air and lowering it back down , cooking the eggs.He looks at me and says: "doesn't matter how I make the eggs, I made the eggs".
AFter I got up off the floor from laughing so hard, I said "you'll never learn to cook".

He never did.

Melody

Oh Mel, how funny!
It doesn't matter how you do it.... it's all about the love you put into it!
You tell Alan I can cook the meanest Omelettes this side of the Mississippi, Everyone comes over for breakfast on Sundays for Pancakes, Omelettes, Bacon, and Ham. If I eat one bite of any of them....
I'll be in the hospital by the afternoon!

I bake the best Banana Nut Bread in three Generations, and all my family asks for it every year for the Holidays!
again.... if I eat it, I'll be in the hospital by the afternoon!

Oh, by the way, I'm allergic to eggs... Nuts, and can't keep milk in my system long enough to digest it!

It keeps me from licking the bowl !

Well every day I bake fresh blueberry, raisin and cranberry muffins with honey. I can't eat any of it because I'm diabetic.
Alan on the other hand, DEVOURS them.

And he stays skinny. Works out like a bandit. That's why.

Oh well.

Oh we found out today he might need a big operation on his foot. One part is for the tailor bunion (a different one than he had before) and on the same foot is the shaving on the bone on the bottom of the foot.

He goes back to podiatrist for another consult tomorrow and then the two surgeons with talk to each other and decide if Alan should get this done.

They told him he'll be in a foot cast for 6 weeks and he'll be on crutches.
This should be an experience.

oh well.

Melody
