I'm sorry Bob. I hope you can find something to help that works for you.

Kitt 01-22-2010 02:36 PM

I, too, am sorry to hear that Bob.

Bob, you are cantakerous enough to do this. You can quit.

glenntaj 01-23-2010 07:39 AM

And I'm sure--

--we'll be hearing about it all the cantankerous way through. :)

BTW, adenopathy would be swollen or enlarged lymph nodes, so it's good there isn't any.

I'm sure there's a forum for helping quitting.
through the lung assn., or somewhere.
That'll prolly be where I'll be, when am going thru it.

My youngest son, who took up the habit in rebellion, has struggled to quit for years. He called that free number, QuitAssist, or something like that and got free nicotine patches, and he weaned himself down pretty fast and is going on two months. He asked for Nictoine gum for Christmas. It is pricey, but, well worth the money. He is off everything now...no nicotine...now to see if he can make it for a year.

Bob towards the end of my career i was put on light duty and was doing security at headquarters. They had a smoking sessation program there in the evening and i helped out. It was pretty successful and what they used was wellbutrin and one of those what look like small cigarette holders that has nicotene in it that you puff on to get over the rough spots. The wellbutrin also was tapered down until you were off it. Seemed to work very well for many people. Good luck with quitting and i wish you the best.

You know, Bob. You might try posting on Social Forum and asking if anyone has tips/support. I can recall reading various people on the boards who have quit successfully.

Social forum is where many people do look in, and you might get some responses here. Just an idea.

Thanks, MrsD. I'll check it out.
Echoes- I've tried Wellbutrin in the past - its too weak to do anything for me. I have a very high drug tolerance system. Always have, even as a kid.

Maybe I might give this new Chantrix a try. But some of the s/e seem weird. But I'll give anything a trial-once.
We shall see what happens with my wife's quitting at the same time.
I'm not having a lot of luck getting a commitment from her- lots of evasions and unfinished sentences.
I don't think I can do it if she doesn't stop, as well.
It'll be in my face, in the house, all the time if she doesn't.
