Crazy B12 Questions ?

I've been reading the threads here but it is taking a long time (lots of info). I have a few questions.
First,
I have severe burning and some numbness in my feet. I've been through all of the local doctors that can't find the cause. I was told I was pre-diabetic (106) but they are sure that's not the cause (I'm on a diet anyway to fix this if I can). My B12 level is 375 but they believe anything around 400 is normal. I just started taking 2000mcg of B12 in the am but also need to take Nexium an hour before breakfast. If I let the B12 dissolve under my tongue and swallow the Nexium at the same time will that work?
Second,
Several people on this site indicated soaking their feet in cold water and letting them warm up slowly helps with the pain. In my case just the opposite is true. I soak them in warm water and the pain drops but returns later. Shoveling (lots of) snow this week makes it more painful. Anyone else notice this?
Third,
someone on this site mentioned that their pain goes up substantially when they lie down. I have the same issue. Anyone know why this happens?

*** Thank's for all of the help. I don't know how others are tolerating this pain !!

Over time Nexium will decrease stomach acid and affect these nutrients, which require acid for absorption:

B12
Folate
Magnesium
Calcium
Iron
Zinc

The B12 you place under the tongue mostly dissolves in your saliva and is swallowed. I wouldn't count on much being absorbed. So take it on an EMPTY STOMACH so that it can bypass the nonacidic stomach and be passively absorbed in the intestine. Food will hinder this type of absorption.

400 B12 is the cut off... lowest acceptable reading. So taking extra is a good idea. You have no idea how much B12 you have in your spinal fluid or stored in your liver. So taking extra is good insurance.

When you soak your feet in warm water, add epsom salts to it.
It can help. 2-3 oz of powder to a large pan, or 4-6oz in a tub.
Soak for at least 20 min to a 1/2 hour. NO hot or cold water, lukewarm is best for this. Warm water response suggests you have some circulation problems. Do you smoke?

Hi. I would be careful about shoveling. Even people without conditions like this get hurt doing that. Is there anyone that could do it for you?I can't tolerate cold water at all but did not know if that was the rsd rather then the pn. For me warm baths do help with the ache/tight feeling though not so much with the temp. For the epsom salt one doc I saw suggested taking a garbage pal. I assume the small kitchen size and soaking for 30 min. It was also suppose to be quiet time to destress. For me I could not lift a pal after so tried it in the bath but I am the odd sole who does not like epsom. Feel better

Wow, thank's for all of the info. As for the questions:

- I do have a back injury from many years ago. The pain specialist tried several of the spinal injections but they made no difference so he gave up. I need to see a neuro at the U of Penn hospital but haven't made it yet.

- I've never smoked in my life (proud of that).

- If I need to take the B12 an hour before anything else, I also need to take the Nexium an hour before eating. It's going to be a little tough to wait 2 hours after waking in the morning to eat breakfast.

- I've tried using epsom salts but they don't seem to make much difference than using just plain warm water. I am careful of the temperature since I have some numbness.

- I shovel very little but have a large driveway. I use a large snowblower but still need to walk a good bit.

* Again, thank's for all of the responses.

Wink

You can take them together. You don't have to wait 2 hrs before eating. One hour is plenty.

I take mine with my thyroid pill each morning with some tea.
