When this happens 3 to 4 times per year not to mention the 3 to 10 inchers, you can see why we bit for a mega snowblower....Bob, I would take the guy up on the shoveling...but I wouldn't pay him til he is done and if it is good....I would tip him! Even a totally healthy hunk couldn't move that much snow...that is insane. Let some one else blow a disc, or tear a rotator cuff!

Now I admit, you guys got an epic snowstorm, with a baby boomlet yet to come....this is not your typical blizzard. I don't know what you guys will do with all that snow! Maybe truck it to Vancouver? They need it for the Olympics...they have none.

I have every dog hair sucked up from my entire top floor....now to get the middle floor and lower floor....why oh why did I get 3 dogs??? One was enough. I even washed the doggie beds! I washed whatever was not nailed down.....I even cleaned closets...(now watch, I will kick the bucket tomorrow...hubby can throw me an Irish wake, at least my house will be clean).

My house has never been this clean since we moved here.... Ah, smell that winter fresh air!! Doesn't even smell like cow doo doo today...smells like plain old air!! Not dairyair! Speaking of, time to get off mine again.

That is a mitzvah........ to thank a mitzvah ~~!!
Well, it doesn't seem like that big of a mitzvah compared to what they did for us, but let me tell you about this challah: they asked me to make my challah for their older son's bar mitzvah last year, which gives you an idea of how much they like it. And several people I didn't know came up to praise it and tell me that it was exactly like Nana's.

I've never had the heart to tell my neighbors or the people at the bar mitzvah that I got the recipe from the book that came with my bread machine. I do pull the dough out and braid it and sprinkle it with poppy seeds rather than bake it in the machine, but that's where it came from. Life is such disillutionment, isn't it?

Default What goes round comes round...

Joan that was super nice! And as Bob said a Mitzva? [SP?]. Little bit of good when and where you can can come back to you if you don't expect it. That is how human animals are?
Bob? When I was very VERY young, I used to have to immerse into epsom salts baths to ease muscle pains and COLD. The heat transfer from me to the water was well...rapid? Maybe you sould try that? Epsoms are too much for my tender skin now tho and I'd likely NOT be able to find the perfect temp.... You choose...that or a moist heat-heating pad...just be sure to ROTATE!
Sue? Would you describe this weather as "YUKKY"? Would that be close? or "Worse than"?
This is one time when I say that BEATING A 110+/- Year old record is NOT fun!
Love hugs and fuzzies to all! Goodness knows we need 'em! - j

I've gotten raves (and constant requests) from my family.
for my matzoh ball soup. I also have a secret, its from a mix.
Now I do have a secret or two on how the matzoh balls come out
light and fluffy, ('pucch') - my 'Nana Millers' were like hockey pucks.
But it still starts as a mix, for both the dumplings and the soup.

Nope. 'Croyden House' (soup & matzoh ball mix), but the secret is........ (should I?)
OK.... slowly blend oil & eggs with a fork until fairly consistent texture - do not whisk or whip...slowly fold in matzoh meal mix, then refrigerate egg/oil/matzoh meal mixture/batter, for at least 25 mins with fork left in the batter (Aha!!). Then drop rolled balls, about walnut size, into rolling boil soup, reduce to simmer & cover. Simmer for 22 mins with lid on. Do not, under any circumstances, lift lid before 20-22 mins. Test, simmer for 1-2 mins longer if still firm in center. They should be uniformly soft and tender all the way through. Simmer too long, and they will break apart - leaving you with chicken soup porridge.

I like Egg-Drop, but my wife says the egg has the consistency of snot,
& won't touch it. She's into Hot & Sour or Won-Ton soup for Chinese
I fix Caribbean Black Beans too! (but start with Goya canned)
I'm into the dinner in 30 mins or less category, since we both work.
On Sundays, I try to get my wife to fix- she's actually a better cook than I am, but
I seem to get the job 5-6 nites a week.
