Default Thanks for the understanding!

In DC we broke and beat a 110 year old record! For the winter accumulation for the winter season. Lots of SNOW! We usually get national news on the local news? Because of our location I guess.
For the last week we've gotten nothing - NOTHING but snow news! The entire world could have collapsed [and likely has, but we wouldn't know it]...as long as a downtown Starbuck's was open - THAT was reported as NEWS!
Guess you can tell I've not been out of the house for over a week? The roadside heaps w/o plow help are taller than I am at 5'6"! The shovel heaps are taller.
Road is like an ice sheet, can't wait to drive on it? Need I say more?
Yep, the concept of hibernation looks better with each new weather prediction!
BobB? I'll e-mail you my heating pad if you need it! You must be truly hurting about now! You got more than we did!
Can't change the weather, but can learn to live with it? Kind of like 'neuropathies'! I guess.
's to all! At least we can watch OLYMPICS soon. - j

Default Gotta admit you're right?

There is a substantial absence of HOT AIR?
But I doubt those that provide the HOT AIR were able to 'get home'!
Sigh....

Unless your Soc. Sec Check is late, or you get your power disconnected, cause you didn't get the bill? Little things like that, can be annoying. It's not just the Feds, but area wide and local agencies.
Being a former government employee? I do know that I drove/carpooled thru some AMAZINGLY dangerous weather because I HAD TO GET THINGS DONE! A Seven hour trip home in a car pool thru snow is not my idea of fun or safety overall. And this had happened and will happen more than once.
But, when situations are soo bad that you can't GET THERE? It's hard to try, but not hard to worry about it. Most think Guv employees are uncaring and indifferent? They know what bits they do help the whole a better place. It's politics that put the kabosh on that attitude to the public, tho. But, don't get me started on Political appointees to government positions! They can or not be payoffs. Depends on the politics. Sigh again.
Yep! I'm gonna hibernate! Bye!

I guess what doesn't kill you makes you stronger??

I know what the snowheaps are like, we get those EVERY year. I think most parking lots have 25 foot high mountains of snow, and this is a usual year.

I do hope that winter is over for you guys.....now what will happen when all that snow melts?

J, you need some 'yak traks' for your shoes....they are good on ice...however, do not wear them indoors, it makes indoor floors like ice.

Default You mean like these??? I truly wanna know..if they work.

http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/b...3?evar3=BROWSE

Strange apparatus. But, if they work? Worth consideration...
BTW? some HOT air has resumed here...don't know from where...maybe the folks who couldn't get outta town and are spouting hot air just for the sake of it? The hot air has only started after 7pm EST - go figger?
I just wish the AIR was directed constructively towards thawing the roads, not critique about how the roads should be cleared? Ya Knock dead a 110 year old record? And you aren't working after 3 days? Well, why not? This is NOT a computer game or something. Some folks seem to think so tho..
Where IS my nearest Starbucks? I mite need a double-something soon just because of all this nonsense. [Secretly wish they'd deliver?] Where and when has the word "CHILLOUT' been more appropriate?
As for OVER? NYET as they say... a 'possible' 6" is due on next Mon/Tues...But the last one started out that way...and grew, and grew and grew. I'm not optimistic, nor pessimistic about this all? Merely pragmatic. It will happen or NOT. Ideally NOT? W/that? Hugs to all be warm and dry and w/power! - j

If you are getting more snow, it isn't coming from here....bright and sunny, albeit freaking cold....I am still airing out the house, despite the cold (pretending it is May)....new grandson coming this weekend...gotta mop up the cobwebs, and air the place out...so what if it is 12 degrees, lol....it will warm up somewhat....I hope. The air does smell fresh!! Even if I can't feel my feet....

I have a new pet in the garbage bag....fur enough for a whole new labrador retriever....amazing what you find in rarely frequented closets....Wonder how that fur finds its way in there...hmmm. No skeletons in my closets...nope, retrievers.....

I have something like that for ice walking. Got at BedBath and Beyond 2 yrs ago. But mine have metal thingeys on them.

They are on an old pair of boots of mine...very hard to get on and off.

I have a rip off of yak traks and they are great on the parking lot....but I went into a home improvement store and just about skated across the whole thing! I looked like a cartoon character! They are terrible on indoor floors. Mine have springs on them. I think the ones with spikes are better....like studded tires, lol.
