Question My husband went off Lyrica cold turkey!

My husband takes 600mg of Lyrica daily and has for a very long time. He ran out and we called in a new script. The ppharmacy did not have any and could not get any until the next day! OMG this man turned into a monster and still is because he has gone three days without any. He finally gets his script today. Has wthis ever happened to anyone else? He is sick to his stomach, mad as hell, in pain of course in feet and legs but stomach also. This is horrible!

Shocked

Lyrica should not be discontinued abruptly. Your pharmacy should have offered to advance him some capsules, until they could get the refill authorized, and then deduct them from the subsequent filling.

Next time be forceful and demand this. And also try to think ahead enough so that your doctor will be available for refills, etc.
You should make sure your doctor's office understands this aspect of Lyrica.

Stopping high dose Lyrica suddenly can also cause seizures.

I agree about not stopping meds. Was this 1 day only? I keep my pills in a weekly pill box. This also helps me see a week before hand when I will run out. I hope he feels better soon and if not I would call the doc.

Hello,
I stopped Lyrica in December over a period of six weeks due to getting muscle spasms, I took it for four years. The pain level is about the same except the spasms have diminished a good bit and the lower back pain is gone and brain function is clearer. I do take Methadone down to 5mg 3times a day. Have been lucky the PN hasn't spread past my lower half of body. Like most on this forum I have multiple health issues. Cinammo have your husband get some free samples from his doctor to cover this type of issue.
