--I wonder if possible thalamic or central pain syndrome, as Mrs. D mentioned, has been considered:
www.centralpain.org www.centralpain.com Central pain is one of the most intractable pain syndromes known, as there is damage to the sensory relays in the thalamic tracts which then tend to over-fire. Very common with strokes, unfortunately (and with MS and B12 deficiency, among other triggers). Pain management varies, but usually anticonvulsants in fairly high doses are a first line attempt. |
