Default Small Fibre Neuropathy & Tremor

Has anyone heard of tremor included in small fibre neuropathy?

Now Dr. is calling it Non-Length Dependent Small Fibre Neuropathy, because neuro sensations are all over body.

I have not heard/read of tremor being a part of this?

Any insight would be appreciated.

P.S. I am bouncing around from site to site, the tremor part is leading me to think Parkinsons (not totally having faith in what Dr. is saying), !because abnormal sensations can be a part of Parkinsons also. (no test for parkinsons)

Baclofen seems to help for tremors.
Some of us have had to resort to it.

Default Do check your med records and see if:

A FULL metabolic blood panel was done.
IF you are low in calcium and magnesium [possibly Vitamin D too-tho that's a more specialized test?] then consider these supplements as a trio.
Use the 'search' feature on the dark blue bar and ask about them... you'll find lots of info from Mrs D under the 'Supplements' forum. I mean LOTS!
Starting to take it helps? But do keep in mind that it takes a month or more to really kick in. It worked for me, what more can be said?
Tremors are often due to various neuropathies and/or due to calcium deficiencies resulting from the pain meds [many are notorious calcium depleters].
Do go slowly reading this INFO? It's a LOT and it is complicated. You can suffer from either brain freeze or burnout if you're not careful. Take in what you can in small doses, digest that then get more specific.
Do let us know how you are doing in the future? And remember-there is not a single silly or stupid question I or many others have asked in the past! We learn, and evolve or something like that...
Hugs and hope! 's !!!!!! - j

Default Anyone heard of tremors .....

Yes - I had tremors closer to the beginning of when the small fiber sensory neuropathy was diagnosed in February (also non-length dependent). Only get them occasionally now, and nothing like they were. Took no meds for this.

Luckily, I have a few areas that the SFSN has "spared," as the docs call it, and hope you do as well. During the last few months, have had improvement of the SFSN, but it's definitely not gone.

Default Been there, done that

My official diagnosis as of Jan.2010 was mixed axonal and demyelinating peripheral polyneuropathy. However, I have been battling this "at least in my mind, or so I was told" since at least 1996. I did notice in a progress note back from 2000 there was mention of "a new feature and that is some tremors have started. It is a very fine, low amplitude, high frequency tremor more with suspension and action." I also never took any meds for this and it seems to come and go. It does cause me concern with my occupation and it has been so severe at times that others have commented on it. (Waiting for my official report from my skin biopsies and EMG/NCS from Cleveland clinic to see if the diagnosis is the same as I received in January. Will keep you all posted on that as soon as I get it.) Having a big family get together at our place this weekend and have lots to do. My husband said "try not to do too much today." Who does he think is going to get it done if I don't do it?? I just have learned to roll with the punches as best I can. If it isn't one thing, it is something else and I expend too much energy trying to control things that are out of my control. Off to "work" I go.

Thank you for all your replies, don't feel so alone now.

Sheltiemom - Were your tremors at rest and where did they occur? The other thing I didn't mention was muscle faciculations (twitches), does anyone get them? What confuses me is SFN should only include sensory symptoms, not motor symptoms (tremor & twitches of muscle) because motor fibres are large fibre.......if I am understanding this correctly.

Default SFSN and Tremors

Hi, Invisable -

I had what felt like internal tremors or shaking, hard to describe. Otherwise, it was only mild hand tremors, left and right, which show up only once in long while now. Haven't had the internal kind for months.

As to the fasciculations, had them in the legs on occasion before this thing began but not for many months now.

Non-length dependent SFSN is a tough one.

Hi, Invisable - posted my reply directly at your topic, but it didn't seem to take. My tremors were "internal," hard to describe, but haven't had that for a number of months. Otherwise, just mild hand tremors and they are only occasional now.
Had what might have been fasciculations well before this thing began but not for a long time.

I get very deep twitches which feel as though they are occuring "very" deep in the muscle. They happen at rest and while active. I also get the vibrating sensations, but those feel completely different from the twitches. I haven't got any tremors yet.

Default Small fiber neuropathy and tremors

Hi,

Just went to another health topic at this website - Movement Disorders - because I saw the words "essential tremor."

Now I know what it was both my mother and maternal grandmother had - it was essential tremor. My grandmother had it of the hands, but not very badly, but she had the constant motion of the head and so did my mother.

Whether or not this is in any way connected to small fiber neuropathy, I have no idea. But I suspect that the tremors I've had/have are the result of essential tremor.
