i don't have any info on the rebuilder, although I know there has been discussion of this in the past. I also become uncomfortable with any pressure to my buttocks and my posterior thighs, making prolonged sitting difficult. I have found quite a bit of relief with a tempurpedic seat cushion that I recently purchased. I'm attending a 2 day conference next week, which will involve extending periods of sitting, so my cushion will be coming with me. I thought that I might feel odd walking into the conference with my cushion in hand, so I purchased my cushion its very own Vera Bradley tote...it's all about the accessories:).

Pain in the lower back with buttock pain and pain going into the thigh and side of the leg can be inflammation of the sacroiliac joints. I have been diagnosed with (female) ankylosing spondylitis. It is an autoimmune disease usually affecting males but can also occur 1:4 in females. I have bone pain in my SI joints - not in the joint space but in the bone. It is imflammatory and also causes pain in my tendons (tenosynovitis), arthritis in my hands, neck, ribs and other joints. I also have peripheral and autonomic neuropathy and fibromyalgia. I don't know if the neurological problem is connected to the rheumatic problem. I tend to think they are related somehow...

AS in women is very hard to diagnose. It does not usually show in an x-ray and does not show in blood (seronegative) except for perhaps a sed rate... an MRI with contrast does show destroyed bone though. I do have a very good rheumy whom I have been seeing for about 8 years. It did take time to get a diagnosis.

Hope you feel better and that perhaps this may help.

P.S. I forgot to mention... if it is the SI joint involved, a rheumy will know based on palpation. There is very specific pain in a very precise location in the joint that makes you jump off the table that can be distinguished from spinal and hip pain. I thought only my left side was affected but with palpation, both sides are now known to be painful and damaged.

My buttock pain is only when I sit, and its closer to the rectum area than the muscles in check area, but it can be both. You mentioned sitting for long periods is painful and I totally understand as I have to take a break every hour or two. The pressure point also includes the backs of the thighs.
Does anyone else have similar problems????

I get pain in my buttocks, but I think it is muscle pain as my gait when I walk is different now then when I didnt have PN in my legs, I also think the muscles are working harder to compensate for the lack of strength in my lower legs to keep me balanced and they get sore.

I mainly get it on my left side but my left leg is worse then my right.

I just traried the butt pin yesterday. Guess I never really thought about it but it does effect the muscles. I can't sit that long even in the recilner. I love the things i learn there. Thanks...

I have lost a lot of weight this year and now, my butt pain is worse. My bottom just can't get use to the missing padding. My pain is worse standing up than sitting, as a rule. The muscles ball up and get even more painful.:(

I am, for now, wholly completely and absolutely grateful? That, I can get UP OTTA BED, MERELY USEING A CANE! W/o too many creaks, gronches [some of you know about these] and or sprains/strains.
Every day I get up? IS a good DAY because I HAVE gotten UP!
IF You can seek out on the web help or ask a physical therapist about the better 'ways' YOU can/should get outta bed.
Long ago posts by 'Silverlady' hinted at this issue, best to heed it and be cautious.
Hugs and hope to all! - j
