The important takeaway points for me from this study were that, in following the progress of folks with small fiber neuropathy over a two-year period, they found that after two years:

1) The symptoms of 60% of patients were unchanged

2) The symptoms of 30% of patients were worse

3) The symptoms of 10% of patients were better

Of those with small-fiber neuropathy at the outset, only 11% had developed large-fiber involvement by the end of the two-year study.

Finally, the typical course of pure small-fiber neuropathy was typically benign (non-life threatening) and did not lead to loss of mobility.
