Awwww! I know exactly how you feel. I have to tell people that I have what's often called a silent disease. You may look at me and think I'm perfectly normal. But spend a day with me and you begin to see.

Default That is why there was a 'Bill the Cat'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_the_Cat
Bill in some ways is my hero? In that he's strange, and doesn't care, and people look at him pecuialialy and rightfully so, but, yet, he too is vulnerable despite is less desirable aspects.
IF 'BILL' Were available these days? I'd have him Living stuck to my limited places of life and have him smirk on all who pass near me!
And, we all KNOW it's not necessarily the meds! ? 's - j

I *love* Bill! I have a shirt somewhere with him on it. He's my hero!

Never underestimate the power of saying it's the meds. ROFL!

My partner has only one leg, so when we go out together, I'd have to learn to walk on my hands to get any attention. As for rude strangers with obnoxious questions, you wouldn't believe how many people ask her how she lost her leg. Lately her reply has been "shark attack!" (this was my idea), but if it's a little kid, sometimes she points at me and says "SHE ate it!"

Re your concern about the idiots that stare at you because your using a cane. I've had this PN crud for over 22 years and have been using a cane for about 75-80% of that time. For those that stare and ask stupid questions I always think this: "Those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter". This doesn't do anything to the starers & stupid questioners but it always supports & raises my morale.

They do that to foreigners that don't speak English, too.
As if louder will help interpret the language. Duh!

Wink

The hiking poles are SO MUCH better than the canes! ( I have to say it again!)

There is no comparison in the response from people!

Since I have used canes for many years, off and on... sometimes for 6months at a time, I really can tell the difference!
