Lightbulb

I've had pain in my hands for over 30 yrs.

The ortho doctor I consulted during my pregnancy had me wear the carpal tunnel splints during the night. And that really still helps. I have episodes (depending on my activity level) here and there and still wear them.

I'd see a doctor and get an EMG like I did back then. It will show what is being compressed.

Also consider magnets, which I still use.

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...hlight=magnets

The splints take the pressure off compressed nerves in the wrist.
The magnets may help get rid of residual pain.

But you really need a medical intervention/diagnosis to see if you are getting compressed at the wrist. When I was pregnant, 29 yrs ago...my arms would wake me up like they were dipped in burning oil. I had no clue what THAT was.... now I know.

After I delivered, and more so after my thyroid was treated properly, I never had that extreme pain again. I do get numbness and tingling however, now and then.

Hi, FTB -

Know that just the thought of even more testing probably has you ready to scream, but MrsD might be onto something for you although EMG can be uncomfortable both during and after for a while.

On a lighter note, how about the Black and Gold last Sunday! Now if they can only do better on first and second and get a lot more TD's than last year.

Best wishes,

Sheltiemom

are you sure you don't have something more than sensory neuropathy??
the fingers curl over at night sounds almost like hand clawing - something that can happen with thoracic outlet syndrome {TOS} or some of the other conditions that affect the larger nerves.

I would get the dr onto this and possibly have more testing, like EMG as mentioned.
Don't accept it as part your current diagnosis until the testing proves if it is or isn't.
It may be something new and treatable, and best treated before too much time has passed.

Can TOS affect both arms,, I wore gloves to bed last night,, I slept without pain but the moment I took them off,, both hands were painfull and even this laptop buzzing causes my hands to hurt,, its like they have a mind of there own,,, actually its hurts all the way up the arms,, putting gloves on is even painfull

Yes it can, do you have any neck pain or tight feeling neck muscles?
TOS originates in the neck/chest junction - lots of nerves/blood flow in a small area- gets compressed and causes symptoms.

the TOS forum useful sticky thread has more details on symptoms and such -
here it is-

Thank you everyone for your replies,,, PN is odd,,, and I dont know where PN starts and something else begins,, I;m just tired of going from Doc to Doc and not getting any real good answers,, and since the sensory stuff started I had to stop driving,, I dont feel the pedals that well and I cant hold onto the steering wheel without pain in my arms and hands,, vibrations make things worse, its just tough being stuck in the house all day,, and really no where or anything to do,, but thanks everyone again

Sorry it's so hard, FTB. I wish that doctors would even just seem like they're trying to come up with solutions. As it is, I think a lot of us feel like they just want to push us out the door and not be bothered again until our next appointment in six monts.
