I have had a sudden onset of what my neuro thinks is SFN. Done tons of testing and my blood test shows might have Celiac Disease. I'm waiting for referral to have a biopsy of instestines to confirm the Celiac. My Dr. says I might have SFN due to the Celiac. Has anyone here had this and if so, will it get better if I do a Gluten Free Diet? I'm so desperate for relief!
BTW: B12 test was 580, but B1 is only 9. |

My SFN was caused by celiac disease/gluten intolerance. I have been gluten free for 10 yrs this pass July, and have had neuropathy for at least 12 yrs, not sure how much longer.
My Vit B12 now tests somewhere around 1800 and is approved by my neuro..I take 5000mcg daily of Jarrow B12. Don't have any idea what my B1 is.

Welcome to our board!
Here is a link to a collection of medical papers, on the various medical problems that gluten can cause: http://sites.google.com/site/jccglutenfree/ There is a section there on neuropathies. So please to check out that link and read. It is not as rare, as some doctors would have you think!
